Even the history lesson are kinda screwd xD....why did his great grandparents move to Greece if he was fleeing from the Ottoman when Greece was also part of the Ottoman empire for 400 years xD. Btw i just google and there are still plenty of Greek living in the pontic area today and they have been living there since the Ottoman took over 600 years ago. The Ottoman didnt massacred the Greek and the Assyrian they just ruled over them. The Armenian massacre happen much much later in history and mostly because of political shift and not really about religion because the Ottoman suspected many Armenian during the Russio-Ottoman wars were helping the Russian to invaded Ottoman territories, so the young Turk party which was not under the control of the Sultan committed a massacred willy nilly without actually done any research which village or group of Armenian was working with the Russian Empire during the war. The Sultan was mad angry when he found out but he already lost a lot of power back then because the parliament already took over the military, so what he can do was just try to punish the generals. But they fled. But was later hunted down by Armenian assassin and killed.

Well I never thought I'd type historical stuff in this forum. Greece had already become independent since the revolution of 1821. The period refering to the Pontian migration due to persecution and execution is different than the one you are mentioning. The whole event is named as "Greek Pontian Genocide" and refers to the systematic extermination of the Greek population of the Pontus region (northeastern Asia Minor) from 1914 to 1923.

  • Victims: Estimated at approximately 353,000 Pontian Greeks, while hundreds of thousands of others were uprooted and became refugees.

    • Death marches into the interior
    • Deportations and forced labor in labor battalions (Amele Taburlari)
    • Starvation, torture, and destruction of settlements, churches, and schools
The Genocide has been officially recognized by Greece (1994), Cyprus, Armenia, Sweden, and the Netherlands, as well as by the International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) in 2007.
