Saw a psychologist specialized on male gay relations once talk about how guys usually considered less attractive by the gay comunity (ugly, fat, older, etc...) tend to focus on other attributes when engaging potential partners (both for FWB and serios relationships). Like a subconscious attempt to compensate a percived lack of physical attributes. They tend to be more attentive and caring lovers (both in bed and out of it). That in turn provide a different experience for attractive guys that are more used to engage in transactional relations with other attractive guys.
