Okay, this has probably been talked about on here, but I was reading about the National Cleavage Day (who makes up these holidays?) and thought about a few posters that said something like, 'if women show cleavage, they know it' and so on as if the woman was looking for attention with her breasts hanging out on the table or something!

So, my thoughts were a bit....well, not in agreement. What do you think? Do you go out, let's say not for the club, in a shirt you think isn't low cut (hard to find ones that aren't sometimes) and still have some cleavage show? Maybe someone points this out (a friend), but do you KNOW your 'showing' or does your friend's comment catch you by surprise?

I'm just curious because I think I dress professionally -- no boobs hanging out for the world to see -- I wear layers, like a camisole and a blouse or button down sweater or a nice shirt, usually a scarf too. But the other day someone at work pointed out I should tug up my camisole straps so the lace wasn't so low -- 'cause I was showing a bit of cleavage! Thankfully this was a friend. I was kinda mortified to be honest. I pulled the straps up until the shirt was uncomfortable and now I check my straps to make sure they aren't too loose.

But anyway, any other women have cleavage show but not mean to?

I don't mean to during the day but it happens. I'm a DDD and shirts just slide down even with minimizing bras. I like to balance it like if the shirt is very fitted then I like less cleavage. At night I have no issue wearing a low cut shirt or even a little sheer. There is nothing wrong with cleavage in the right setting

I think this topic is great for starters! I am a petite girl with D's and normal shirts that smaller chested girls wear fine make me look like I'm asking for attention. I struggle with making sure I'm being conservative at work. It drives me nuts. I truthfully couldn't imagine being any bigger in the bust because men already stare at the ladies rather than my face in any sort of low cut top.

I'm just going to chalk this one down as a non-winnable battle hahah

Do you also have issues with button down shirts? I can only wear them open with a tank under. Breasts are wonderful and fun

I agree -- even if I want to be super sure nothing is showing, sometimes clothing moves through out the day. I don't have a sit down at a computer job, I move around, I walk, talk, stretch...all those things that wiggle your clothing out of order! I think the layers helps, then something like this happens. *shrug* It's not like I'm LOOKING for attention at work! Not at all. The complete opposite, I'm looking for a professional appearance, not a quick mini boob show! lol

Oh, this reminds me of my 'most embarrassing moment' at work. I got a group hug and I was wearing a button down....yeah, the top 4 buttons popped open! Needless to say, I spun around and only one person saw, but still! Wrecked my day. I threw the shirt out. It was borderline snug and with a camisole under, it wasn't going to work. I go to The Limit for some of their button downs. They're soft, better fabric and come in comfie sizes -- not so small on top.

There is a woman out our office that has cleavage in turtlenecks. Well not really but you get my point, she tries very hard and does a pretty decent job holding them back.

I steer clear of button down shirts... I have a few button down dresses and i have to wear undershirts with them in fear of popping open... Let's just say that I play the legal secretary fantasy a little too well and I don't mean to. Hahah

Yeah, won't go near those. It just looks a bit....bulging. lol

Yeah and then your IQ goes down. Right?

In the past I didn't really notice if I was showing skin/cleavage or not. More recently, since I'm leaning more towards masculine clothing/traits, I pay a lot more attention. Button up shirts are a bane of my wardrobe. I have to get them in a larger size than I would normally wear, so there isn't a gap/gape.

Possibly an interesting little.. vignette... When I worked at a law firm I was one the largest busted individual there (particularly among the younger employees). So, like all the other younger employees I often wore shirts whose collar wasn't above my collar bones in the front.

I was the only one who got reprimanded for showing too much skin. The only reason this happened is because the other younger femmes had A or B cup chests, whereas I'm a D. I had already been layering tank tops/camisoles underneath. If a flat chested femme and a busty femme are wearing the exact same shirt that is only vaguely low cut, the busty femme is going to have more showing. I can't help that.

*grrrrr* Double standards

well if you're referring to me (;-))...I do not in ANY WAY think that women are somehow whores if they show cleavage or that if cleavage shows they're attention seeking. My boobs are huge, they show in everything. If I wear a tee shirt they bounce when I walk. I can't get away from it. None of us with big boobs can and thats ok. What I mean is that some girls go out with their tits on FULL DISPLAY..Im not sure about TOS and linking to images but this is what I mean by flaunting cleavage:

Could you have a serious conversation with these girls and keep your eyes focused above the chest??? http://29.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_li2ejxprfh1qf5xqho1_500.jpg

does that make any sense? I think it's completely normal to show some cleavage but if youve got them hanging halfway out you have to know you're going to get stares. I know because the last time I went out with MAJOR cleavage I had multiple comments and more than 3 people (female friends!) want to touch them.

Of the three girls I have had cleavage like the one in the black dress. My cleavage is a lot like the second link usually. Either way when dressing up it is impossible to hide it so I show off tastefully

Turtlenecks are horrible not sure if busty women should wear them. Do any of you get cluster phobic in turtlenecks? I also only recently realized that busty women should not shake ketchup bottles in public

double standards. Yeah. That sucks about the shirts. I also don't think you should be reprimanded at all, I mean, so what if A femme wears shirt to her neck, if you are more comfortable and you're conservative meaning you're tits are showing, then why get a 'talking to' at all? Grrr. That must have really sucked.

I went to the links and yeah, not only would I not talk to them, but they all look pretty wasted...LOL. But yeah, I mean one has her bra showing. Going out is one thing, but at work? No way should you have that much showing.

But even going out, I worry too. If I wear a low cut top, I wear a scarf in the winter, sorta shy about too much. I bought a Victoria Secret's top and thought nothing of it, until I went out and realized when I looked down, I could SEE the cleavage. Whoa! I was worried all night. lol.

But on the reverse, I love tight t-shirts -- not grossly over tight but snug. *shrug* and yeah, they bounce, but they're covered.

lmao....too funny. So no shaking ketchup bottles?? :biggrin1:

I don't like turtle necks because it's like hiding two humpback whales under a soft stretchy material. I like loose fitting turtle necks, but then they hang down....it's hard to find the right sweaters. Bottle neck ones are nice.

Yeah and then your IQ goes down. Right?

Absolutely.

The guy I'm dating made the WRONG comment the other day of "youre smarter than you look" the other day.... I replied with "because I have nice tits? Good comment.... I don't know what that's supposed to mean"

Men.

To answer your question, Wonderbra made up the National Cleavage Day holiday.

This is interesting to read. I have a few friends who are TINY girls, I am talking 5'3 and one of them has natural F cups, the other a DDD. With them I imagine this problem would be even worse, the waist is about a 24, and then there is a massive measurement up top and these girls are straight up thin.

Well, used to be I had cleavage in a burka, but now that the girls are a bit more manageable I have much better control on how much I show. I had very little in my wardrobe, other than work clothes that didn't show cleavage. I don't think men understand the situation sometimes. Being big-breasted, or top-heavy as my Mum calls it which I hate because it sounds like I'm overweight, means there's a trade-off if you want to wear anything stylish. They're all made to show off, and there are some functions I attend where I don't want to call attention to either the girls or myself.

Seaside, I was more like the girl on the left in the second photo. A dress like that on me now would look demure, but before surgery it would look like an invitation to gawk. And yes, I know I dressed like that but didn't want to make the invitation.

And if you think shaking a ketchup bottle is something, try helping yank our a kitchen cabinet or use a crosscut saw to take out a stud! I've overheard subcontractors telling their crew not to stare, and I've had one politely ask me not to help in the demolition because it distracts his men. What do you say? Get a better class of low-wage manual laborer?

Wow, Ellie, that would suck. I can't imagine. I'd be a bit upset!
