Communal Shower 'inequality'

I can't speak to the inequality of the two different shower styles, But I prefer stall. Not out of modesty, but for the fact that bathing to me is a private matter and I also don't want to be splashed with other peoples cast off anything while I'm trying to get rid of my own. If there are no stalls I'll wait till the communal is spaced out well enough. To me it's the same thing as pissing in a urinal or a trough. I'm going to a stall where I don't have to worry about someone else's piss splatters getting on my shoes and pants or bare legs, LOL!

“Inequality” wtf! Why would a locker room have anything other than communal shower for men. I was taught that modesty is a female trait and that nudity is natural amongst men. Communal showers are cleaner without curtains and extra walls to trap germs. They are simpler too, and simplicity is the essence of masculinity. I blame the modern school systems for not enforcing showering nowadays after PE. We would have got a grade F for not showering and yes, they were totally open. Not to mention you would stink in your next class. Nowadays there are evens saunas in locker rooms that require shorts to be worn-disgusting. A sauna is made to be naked in so that all your pores can be cleaned.

There's hardly any places with open showers these days, it's actually quite sad.

Exactly. I’ve heard stories of how the YMCA used to be male only and how nude swimming was mandatory. I’ve also heard how some gyms used to male only and you could workout just in a jock, or naked and that they weren’t air conditioned and very spartan. Not like these stupid planet fitness so called gyms that don’t even allow grunting. Women being allowed in weight rooms is a fairly new thing, so probably the women’s locker rooms with their stalls and changing rooms were added later. Men need their own spaces.

Apparently there's quite a few gender neutral changing villages these days. I want more male only areas and open showers.

I agree 100%! Women need their own gyms with carpet and perfect climate control and their spa like locker rooms and saunas. Men need spaces where they can be free to be men and not restrained by clothing.

My usual swimming venue has a changing village. It's so annoying....there is a men only space for showering but it's cubicles...and it's off the changing village, so you have to cover up between your locker and the shower - and of course get changed in a cubicle too.

I do wish the websites for fitness centres would make it clear what sort of showers they have, the changing arrangements AND whether you need a lock or coins for lockers - that's all such basic info and no one ever seems to have that easily available.

I'd much prefer communal showers at my pool because they would be kept much more clean - less surfaces and people wouldn't leave their rubbish on the floor if there were other people in full view that would see you. As for showering nude with a group of men, well that's also very nice too.

Totally agree. The idea of shower stalls and changing stalls seems very feminine. What’s next a sofa in the locker room for when you have the cramps and a makeup mirror ? SMH… A real locker room should have open showers, trough style urinals and a nudity only sauna. A man getting naked with other men is only natural. A gym for men should be spartan and full of weights. No carpet and music because the only music should be that of iron hitting iron, grunts and a little shit talking. On a hot day if you only feel like working out in a jock or maybe less, then go for it I mean it’s just men around other men. After throwing some iron, get naked and hit the sauna with your buddies and get real sweaty then hit those open showers.
