Conan gray

But is he sad about the girl, or sad about the guy? Can we get a small crumb of literal queerness in there this time? Fingers crossed lol (There’s always Heather but she could be the queer one in that song)
I don't think he's ever gonna properly come out until he's snapped kissing a guy or engaged.

Yeah, he was apparently seeing someone for months and months and no one has any idea who it actually was. He's managed to be a very private person. Impressive, but annoying because I would like to know as well lmao.

Heather was for sure about a guy though (along with any of the other songs written about 'the same person' as he says), he inadvertently confirmed that ages ago. And! Apparently one of the tracks on his new album is called
Boys and Girls
So I'm wishing for something slutty and bisexual, but we'll see. Titles don't always reflect what the song is about.

Bisexual ? Maybe…Slutty ? Right… :joy:

Not trying to speculate but I cannot see him with any kind of cisgirl. I'm not trying to say there are "signs" or anything like that. It just doesn't compute for me.

But Let's not reopen the 'unlabeled' discussion, shall we?

But it's long so if you don't want to watch the whole thing I took notes. It's worth a watch honestly, I don't recap everything, but looking at this I'm realizing how much I wrote lmaoo. I'm so sorry. :skull:

The Album:
  • Very different from anything he's ever made. He considers Kid Krow and Superache kind of the same thing and wanted to try something different.
  • He considers the album to be very ridiculous and not limiting himself to what he can do
  • He called the album his "Menace to Society Album" (him being as annoying as possible) it's not a break up album, or a love album. It sounds like the album is a journey through this relationship.
  • He says he only considers two of the songs on the album to be sad.
  • Winner is the most vulnerable song on the album (and about his family) but there is another he thinks also is vulnerable.
  • Most of the songs are up tempo.
  • A lot of the lyrics are him being very confused.
  • A lot of the album is him realizing he doesn't know anything, like he thought he knew everything when he was making Kid Krow and Superache but this situation (falling in love for the first time) made him "wow I don't know anything I'm so dumb"
  • He was bored with what he was doing previously, so he wanted to do something different ( just for you @LegoPhilantropist )
  • This is the first time in his life that he's ever had fun making an album, and it's an album made with joy.
  • This album is all about embracing all of your emotions and embracing the fact that this ended terribly but it was so worth it and he'd do it again.
  • Dan Nigro didn't work on this album because Conan spent most of his time in Europe this year, and Dan was working on GUTS with Olivia.
  • This is an album he designed to be sung live
  • This album was a challenge for him to let himself feel everything instead of ignoring it or shutting off his emotions over things
The Person he was dating:
  • "If you don't want me to write a song about you, don't treat me like shit" :skull:
  • The relationship ended very abruptly so there are songs on the album that is sort of him trying to figure out how he felt, and looking for closure.
  • The relationship was an on and off thing for about 6 months
  • He says there is a song about this on the album, but this person dumped Conan over text while he was on a plane to London to see them. "This sounds so pathetic". He said the text was something like "Don't want to date you, getting back with my ex". And then he was just in London. lmaoo wow.
  • The NES music video was in a grocery store because the first date he ever went on with this person was spent mostly in a Tesco because it was pouring rain outside.
  • So this person is 100% from London :eyes:
  • Lonely Dancers is about this person ghosting him for the first time (seems like it happened a lot), and him trying not to have a meltdown about it.
Friends:
  • He doesn't like collaborations, and he doesn't really have a conviction to do any.
  • He doesn't really want to do a collab with Olivia because he just wants to have fun with her. They've written songs together but just for fun, and he'd only want to put it out if it was really good and says that none of the songs they've written together are good lmao.
  • He's trying to be better at making acquaintances and casual friends "and going outside".
  • So maybe we'll see more of Conan getting out there and hanging out with new people besides just Doris, Olivia, and Ashley lmao.

They also talk about other things too. And as always he's very funny and cute lmao.

He used to say that Superache was really different from Kid Krow back when he was promoting it, so I would’nt trust him 100% for that lol
