It isn't illegal to do a gofundme for a sick dog (no matter what your financial situation is). What is illegal is doing a gofundme for a sick dog that isn't sick. That's fraud/theft by deception. So basically, Bill Gates could legally do a gofundme for his sick dog - but he cannot lie and say the dog is sick, when in reality it is not.

Oh it is sketchy as hell. The sick dog was almost painfully obviously fake. A dog doesn't get parvo and recover 3 days later - and then the "broke" owner run around buying high fashion and a Tesla. He has a choice coming up soon - earn an honest living or find new ways to scam people.
