What evidence is there for that? erm, none?

Simple logic can be very misleading. People do not catch covid sitting next to someone with it on a train. They do not catch it under normal shopping conditions, say where people are wandering around a supermarket collecting their shopping. If they did, everyone in the Uk would have caught it months ago. It is rare for an infected person to infect someone else. That was the case before anyone started taking any measures.

In the Uk right now few people are catching it at all, and these seem to be in high risk situations and where infected people are deliberatley ignoring simple rules like staying at home if you feel ill. There isnt really ANY evidence asymptomatic people are spreading it at all.

In lab tests you can measure that mask slow droplets, etc. But the question is whether this makes the slightest difference in a particular situation. In shops it does not, because people just werent getting infected there anyway. Sitting eating or drinking with someone next to you, it might, but that would be ridiculous because of needing to eat.

If on a crowded train, standing room only, breathing right onto the person next to you - then it might. But if people are just sat down, then they are likely safe anyway.

If you are providing personal care or treatment to an infected person, or trying to stop someone getting infected when as up close and personal as that, then it makes sense. But we know massive infections occurred in hospitals despite all the PPR they used. A mask by itself just isnt making much difference,.

Again, looking forward to any published evidence that this disease isn't contagious and proof that "
it is rare for an infected person to infect someone else"... yawn. i have a feeling that we could be here a while waiting....

I mostly agree with the tenor of what you're saying, but the fact remains that mask wearing has been widespread in NE Asia and Indochina, as well as part of E Europe, and they've had excellent results. Masks were only part of a suite of measures there though, admittedly. On the other hand, I find the idea of enforcing masks distasteful.

Actually I think not being allowed to be nude in public is more due to the fact there are certain people who should never be seen without clothes than for health reasons, but I digress. A better analogy might be perhaps the fact most places will enforce you wearing a shirt and shoes and yet where are all the government tyranny people on this? I've never seen anyone make a fuss about being told they have to cover up their manboobs and beer gut or they can't walk around in their gnarly bare feet, yet they spin the fuck out of control over a piece of cloth over their face and think it's the same as a communist take-over. This is especially ironic that unlike the other rules, not wearing a mask actually is detrimental to health and can kill people.

I especially find it maddening when the anti-maskers will tell everyone else if they are so worried to stay home. No, it is they who should stay home if they don't wish to conform to the rules of society and think about someone other than themselves. This is why we need a mandatory, enforceable policy on a federal level. I'm also beginning to think that if they came out with data tomorrow that said those who do wear masks are the most at risk and we should all stop wearing them, the antis would suddenly be sporting them left and right. I think most of these selfish crybabies are acting this way just to be a contrarian and get their 15 minutes of Internet fame.

Masks are about protecting other people from you. Not you from them. It is well established that spreaders are shedding virus into the environment before they are symptomatic. Just normal speech will send an airborne cloud of water vapor several meters into the atmosphere. A mask reduces the velocity of your exhalation and therefore distance your vapor cloud travels. It's simple logic and common sense.

No one has claimed that masks are 100% effective. Even if they only reduced risk by a small factor, it's worth doing. They are one thing you can do along with the others we all know by now. I protect you, you protect me, everybody wins.

We have to take care of each other until there are therapeutics and vaccines. "Be kind, be calm, be safe".

Having to wear pants is because exposed butthole is dirty. Sitting down anywhere naked is dirty.

Whilst debating I have to sometimes suspend my beliefs to show y’all even if it’s real they’re actions are still nefarious. I know y’all don’t believe the government would ever lie to us in the arena of public health. That’s cool. And I’m fine with bowing down and wearing a mask for a spell. But when does it end? Are y’all really cool with wearing masks for years to come? Because I’m hearing that from numerous articles. So just like that we’re transitioning from normal humans to masked humans? So we’re all just gonna sit around waiting for Bill Gates to save us?
