I think I came across the video some of you are asking about in another thread. I'm not sure how to add it here, but I'll try linking the page.

Does anyone know why videos are clear on this site, but when I download them and open them with VLC media player the quality becomes worse?
Which post number in the other thread please?

Are you using a phone or laptop? I've just downloaded and viewed this one on a laptop using VLC and GOM Player and the quality is good playing on both (Same for other videos) Maybe you could try reinstalling VLC player. btw - thanks for pointing out where to find the video!

Thank you for trying to help, appreciate it! I should have clarified that most videos play properly, but some are smaller and more clear on here. It's like they're getting distorted by VLC Player and look grainy.

OK - I see what you mean.
From what you say, it seems that sometimes you are playing a video at a significantly larger size than the original size - and that's why it looks grainy.
You might not notice when it's a small increase in size when played on VLC, but you will when it's a large increase.

In VIDEO settings in VLC, where you see "Always fit to Window" uncheck that if it's showing as 'checked'
and in the ZOOM setting, make sure it's set as 1:1 original.

My guess is that it's most likely to do with "Always Fit to Window" and if you uncheck that the video will (or should!) play at the same size and clarity as it was when it was posted
