Do You Assume Men Wearing A Jockstrap At The Gym Are Gay?

At the gyms I have been to, I assume that a majority (if not all) of the men wearing jockstraps are either gay or bisexual. But the gyms I have belonged to are very popular with the gay crowd, so they had a higher number of gay clientele.

Pretty simple as the title. I’m not asking if you’ll do or say anything that reflects the assumption. Just if you’re aware of it - is your first instinct the assumption that he’s more than likely gay?
Honestly, I don't see too many jockstraps at the gym. There isn't really a functional need for them out on the gym floor. Athletic fitted underwear seems to be the norm, even out on the playing field.

There is a lot of high end fashion/fetish gear in the form of a jockstrap that is definitely marketed to the gay community. Personally, I don't like any of them at all. Give me a pair of flex/fitted boxers and I'm good to go.

But, insofar as the question, jockstrap = a certain sexuality, then I'd say no. I find a lot of communities wear whatever they want now. I prefer looking at the person, observing their behavior and listening to what they are saying. Outside of outright asking someone, for me it is a better way to gauge what someone's sexual orientation might be.

I don't assume - my observation is older guys tend to like the old style jocks. I gave them up when compression shorts came out - more room, better support. My older neighbor, who is relentlessly healthy asked me to order him a few jocks on Amazon because he could no longer find them in either the chain drugstore or the chain sporting goods store on the shelves. The traditional style seems to have fallen out of use among younger athletes.

Totally agree with @keenobserver on this one. I find it to be generational or more age related than sexuality oriented. Older guys, like me, wear jocks. I’ve tried the compression gear and it crushes by junk. Give me a good old Bike jockstrap anytime.

I think there is a bit of cultural/social norms involved with this and feel like it's far more common in the US.

In the UK I haven't seen a single guy wearing a jockstrap that hasn't been a gay guy who is wearing it as sexy underwear or to show off their arses lol Part of me doesn't even regard them as sports underwear anymore.

Was just about to say this. Agree totally, in the UK it's pretty much a not straight thing. Particularly if it's the underwear type of "jock".

Yeah haha can you imagine them being normal back in school? I mean it would've been great in some ways but I'm not sure I even knew they existed until my late teens/early 20's.

I’ve honestly never seen any guy at my local gym with a jock strap but I do notice most of the guys are free balling. The amount of bulges and swinging cocks inside shorts that I’ve seen is amazing and makes it hard to not look

I dont think every guy who wears a jockstrap at the gym is gay... However i feel if you see a guy in the locker room walking around in a nice lookin jockstrap, they are doing it to showoff, and theres no one here but us dudes soo lol

I like wearing jockstraps for the gym, especially for working out my legs. It just feels more comfortable. Though I am not wandering around in the locker room with one on, so I don't think anyone would know I'm wearing a jock

depends on the jock. if its a colored fashion jock then yes gay all day. if it's a black or white traditional jock then i'd wonder.
I'll second this. If it's an Andrew Christian jockstrap or similar, then they're gay as fuck. Otherwise it's a crap shoot.
