Actually, I feel like they're trying to look "casual" or "raw/unfiltered" because they're tired of people only paying attention to their looks. That would explain why Ethan is so open about the acne thing, or why Grayson seems hellbent on taking photos of himself from an unflattering angle, lol.
I hope this is just a phase.

I would generally agree, but you could say the same for any other social media influencer, or social media "creator" - it's about looks and charisma. The twins have both, so I don't know why they're trying so hard to branch out into other things. They could post sexy photos and challenge videos for the next ten years, and they'd still be very successful.
