How do you dream?

I often dream like I'm seeing a movie. I'm not in the dream at all as a character.

For instance, a recent dream includes a young woman who lost her 2 sisters. She had no idea she was a witch. My dream switched to her 2 sisters being forced to view / live her whole life and death over and over and over again in some kind of weird afterlife purgatory. The dream then switched to the young alive woman who had no idea of her witchy powers (or her sisters) trying to learn her powers so she could get her sisters out of the evil curse that had been placed on them to keep in that perpetual state viewing her life and death over & over & over

Sometimes I also dream of the same landscapes

One is of a rushing river not too wide white sandstone as side decorations.

Water is blue, rushing, sand stones are always white and flat

Other times large animals like HUGE except they never want to hurt anyone

Anyhoo.

How do YOU dream?

My dreams make no sense to me. . The last one I had, I was dreaming I was in a abandoned house. I was alone in the house. I went upstairs to a room that was painted red. . I had to pee, so I pissed out a open window. As I was peeing, a man appeared in the room. He was looking at a iced tea I had. . He was going to steal it. I had to hurry up and grab my tea so he would not take it. I left the room and went down stairs in the house, and this man followed me. He started to stare at my iced tea again, and it made me nervous so I picked it up and left the house. . I never buy cans of iced tea. And I have no idea why it was so important to me.

A friend once asked me if I was the same person in my dreams as I am in life. I didn't have any idea. . The next time I dreamed, I dreamed I was in a mall at night. The mall was closed, and I couldn't find my way out. . I decided to find the bathroom, because I wanted to see what I looked like. I went into the mens room, and over the sinks, where the mirrors are normally, were holes in the walls with fire coming out of them. There were no mirrors in the room, so no way to see if I looked the same.

Jeeez that's so interesting! Do you think that man represented something in your real life that wanted something from you? Is iced tea a big part of your life. Painted red door says something to me but not sure what.

Not being able to see oneself in mirror in dream = not knowing where one is at that moment in life?? Maybe

Just spitballing here

Having some fun because I talk to other people and they're always like, you dream of movie type stuff? You mean you're never the person?

And I never am

Upon reflection I do believe my witch dream was about my mom

She died early June

Why wouldn't I dream a dream about having to see her live her life and the death over and over and over until a curse was broken even if I was never an actual character in the dream and neither was mom

Jesus

Mind blown!

I love this, so do you mind describing some of the people you have been in dreams? (The ones not you, necessarily, but first person you in dream)
To put it simply, it's sort of like Quantum Leap. I feel like I'm me, surrounded by and engaging with unfamiliar people, until I see 'my' reflection or people address me as someone else.

Some of my dreams are quite vivid, but I'm never any good at actually describing them afterwards. I can give a few details, but I'm hopeless at giving the actual narrative. So it's going to be hard posting, LOL. But I look forward to following this thread, I think it will be good reading.

A couple things I have noticed about my dreams:
* They're very rarely set in my current location - if I'm at 'home', it's usually in the house I lived in 20 years ago, or the one I lived in before that.
* If I'm at home, it's not 'exact' - i.e. there might be an extra door, a wall might be in a different place, the backyard might be different, etc.

Like MisterVIP, my dreams are nearly always first-person perspective. But I can't recall ever being someone else.

Another thing I've noticed: if I sleep on my right side, I'm more likely to have a 'bad' dream. Not always bad as in 'scary', but bad as in making me anxious or tense or angry. It's hard to explain.

I can get this. I am almost NEVER in my current location, occasionally I dream of places I have been though. almost always something from younger years.

also, i have this feeling if i dream of a house or a place i either don't know or maybe have been, everything is always different! there's always an extra room, a secret space, a different area i never remembered. it is hidden or reached in some special way.

dreams are weird, huh!

Sometimes I dream first person, sometimes I'm watching myself like it's a movie. Sometimes I can feel everything happening to my physical body in the dream, sometimes I'm completely numb. Sometimes I have extremely realistic dreams about situations and people I know well, sometimes I dream about random as fuck stuff with people my brain seems to have made up.

If I'm having a nightmare I wake up sweating, and sometimes sore from sleep-screaming. My man says I never actually make noise, but it's like I'm silently screaming.

I bet I'm scary as fuck to watch when I'm unconscious, LMFAO

I'm a random dreamer. It's not always able to recall my dreams with any clarify. I can recall in general terms, but specifics usually escape my memory when I awake. Like TnJ, some dreams will have random folks I don't recall knowing doing random stuff. Nonsensical if you will.

I've had dreams where I'm trying to do something, get somewhere, and am always thwarted. Can't quite reach the goal. Can't find my homework (haven't been in school in 40 years), my clothes, my car, that kind of stuff.

I've had dreams where I wake up absolutely tired--means I was busy all night in my dreams. I'm usually able to fall back asleep for a few minutes and then wake up more refreshed.

My parents passed in 2006 and 2008. I do now dream of them. Very vivid. They both had serious medical issues that preceded their passings. But in my dreams, they are hale and hearty--but appear as their ages prior to their passing. We have great convo and I usually wake from them feeling really calm and at peace.

And most of my dreams are in color. Almost too colorful at times it seems.

Great thread @Enid!

There was a grad student who "analyzed" my dreams when I was going to college. I don't put much into interpretation, but there were two things he noted that were important: I dreamed in color, and I fly in my dreams.

The color denotes creativity, but the flying is supposed to represent sexual freedom. Well, if it means being free from sex then that was me in college.

The flying dreams have never changed. For some reason I don't want anyone to know that I can fly, and I only fly when necessary, like being cornered by something or someone. Then it's like swimming in that I stroke the air and lift up. I can never fly too high, just enough to get out of reach of whatever is trying to get me.

I remember my sister telling me once when we were younger "Did you ever just fall asleep and then feel like you're falling and then you catch yourself before you hit the ground?" I said yes, I do sometimes. She said "always try to wake up before you hit the ground, because they say if you hit the ground you will die in your sleep."

I asked her how do they know that.

Flyer here as well and dream in colour...I think the dreaming in colour is pretty common, but coming across those who fly as well is less though. Usually it's an adolescent thing and most lose it as they grow older. My twist on it would be more young of heart thing, rather than anything to do with sexuality. Think have mentioned it among other dreamthreads in the past.

My take off is a bit different though. Raise my arms up and out by my side, lean forward and sort of do a glide take off, bit like a hang glider on take off.

So, if I see a blonde freestyling past me in my dreams I'll know who it is :) :)

I wake up the next day feeling invigorated, energised.

Lately though have been dreaming about work...which is less..... enlightening

I get bouts of precognition during dreams and at odd times, when I'm utterly relaxed etc...

It's not something I can turn on and off like a tap and it becomes elusive
if I try to force it.

It runs in the female line of my family.
My mother, grand mother has it.
My sister has it but hates it and refuses to acknowledge it.

Overlooking is part of it.
Walking into a room and picking up emotion.
Meeting someone for the first time and just knowing.

Meh......I don't question it and all I can do is shrug and
carry on with life because it is what it is.

I've always dreamed in color! Also hear music and other sounds, even smell certain odors. For instance, rainy earth or a certain perfume or woodsmoke.
