It’s fine to mock people online, I guess, if that’s what gets your motor running, but being willfully obtuse to the reality that not one military action America has taken since probably WW2 has been for actual defense of America. We have been at war in The Middle East for almost twenty years, and we didn’t even go after the country that produced the majority of 9/11 terrorists. Why? Because Saudi Arabia has a profitable relationship with the US, and the military contractors love the constant warfare because it drives up profit margins on the backs of young men and women who mostly come from poor backgrounds and who join up to get college and medical benefits, not to go due for oil and weapons manufacturers.
That lefty loon Eisenhower warned us of this EXACT situation, and we let it happen. We let multi-national conglomerates turn our military into their strong arm whenever something happens that affects their bottom lines, and we wage war across the globe, constantly because of it.
And who profits? Not the wounded, the broken, the dead. Not the families of those soldiers. Not the rest of us, who have been conditioned to fetishize our military instead of actually supporting them.
Anyway, so yeah. If Dylan chooses to join, that is his choice, obvi. I just hope, for his sake, that he makes a better decision.
