I think is a overreacting post about him respecting the SAG strikes and not about his acting career itself. Especially because the acting is the main driving force for Wallows popularity (I like their music, so don't come for me, girlies) and probably is the one paying his bills.

That's been exactly his life the last 2-3 years. But with marginally better music.If he does forego acting then he still has the chance to be a Ross Lynch band boy. I wouldn't complain.

It might be a very calculated move for him to put a space between his “teen” acting roles and more “adult” work. Nick Robinson has had a slippery experience going back and forth, I really thought he was done and then he went back to that seduced by high school teacher series. Logan Lerman seems to have finally escaped teen roles, even if the first season of Hunters had him start there. I see Dylan of having similar potential to them, but the next roles he takes on needs to be a strong A game and adult characters.
That's reasonable, I mean we can't know how much thought went into this decision, but if he or his agent really thought it over this would seem like a logical step.
Especially if he doesn't want to go back too far regarding his looks, maybe he feels very comfortable with the stubble and the tougher look, of course he can't play high school roles like that anymore, but maybe he doesn't want to be seen like that anymore in the business for future roles anyway.
