I mean thinking about it ims uprised he hasn't. Meanwhile talentless Jacob elordi or Sydney Sweeney pop up and somehow are Hollywood favorties.

Both are way more high profile than Dylan.
Dylan was also in a high profile movie a really big ya franchise. Other smaller movies. A hit MTV show. Both of them will fizzle out. Jacob faster than Sydney.
Dylan was on the rise until the American Assassin movie bombed. As one poster mention. He led three YA movies that did quite well at the box office, grossing a combined $1 billion dollars. But this was before the rise of social media on the scale that we see today. 2014 - 2018 seems like 20 years ago lol. So it makes sense.

Possibly. Neither of them would be the only fizzled out celebrities who've hosted SNL. Hosting that show has less to do with talent and more to do with buzz. It's best when they align.
Yeah, I think the Maze Runner era was perhaps the only window of them when he could have hosted. Though that franchise started as Hunger Games and Divergent were on their way out, along with the popularity of dystopian adaptations as a whole.
True. Unfortunately, Maze Runner came at the tail end of the YA novel era and the last movie got delayed and then COVID hit like two years later.
It doesn't help that he keeps doing weird stuff like that Fantasmas show. Did The Outfit movie that bombed. He did that Not Okay movie that everyone forgot. Then he did Maximum Truth with Ike Barinholtz and it was released to VOD.
He's got four movies coming out though, so we'll see how it goes. I just feel like he's not doing his full potential lately.
I thought doing a Taylor Swift music video would've blown him up more.
The thing is, Dylan seems to be the kind of actor that now picks and chooses what roles he takes. He doesn't seem break out fame like other actors. He picks roles that he likes. He carried Love & Monsters on his broad shoulders. He's a great, talented actor, but he shies away from the limelight.
that's what I think too. I imagine he got some money after the accident and doesn't have to worry about his next role.
Looking so peaceful, enjoying his little roof top garden. And now I have Up On The Roof by The Drifters stuck in my head.
