The first thing is to define "extreme pumping". Without definitions on the part of the person asking questions, I am going to have to make assumptions or guesses so please pardon me on that part.
Pumping in general is different for everyone. The fluid being drawn into the tissues of the penis to create the expansion is in fact lymphatic fluid which is basically a percentage of the water making up your body. In the average individual who has never pumped these pathways are very small and drawing this fluid into this one area will because of this take a great deal of time. To get noticeable gain in size for a first timer will take anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes. As time goes on, the pathways begin to enlarge. Enlargement of these pathways begins to take place and is a prerequisite for permanent penis enlargement. You will not get the permanent enlargement until the pathways reach sufficient size to bring in enough volume to accomplish the stretching that is needed.
By extreme, I am going to assume that you mean pumping the penis to a point where it is stretched and grotesque in appearance. Again, this is an assumption because I do not have an exact definition.

Reading you explaination leads me to another question, which is;

Number one, extreme pumping is risky and is a path lined with pitfalls and dangers that you must avoid. Damage to the delicate capillaries of the inner foreskin and or blisters are the biggest problems that one must avoid when pumping in the "extreme" fashion.
Extreme pumping is also for advanced pumpers and should not ever be tried by beginners or even intermediates for that matter.
Extreme pumping can take anywhere from 2 - 5 hours until one is satisfied with the desired "result".

I did not really intentionally start out to gain this kind of knowledge on Enlargment. A better statement was that: "It attacked me" and forced it's way in.

I want to go on record here and second some of the things that Tripod has said. I did not feel that writing tons of cautions were necessary. What I do feel is that one has to understand a great deal about the mechanica of pumping before they go nuts with it.
Here is the CAUTION:
As tissue stretches the sensitivity of nerves dealing with pain are compromised. It is not that they do not feel pain, it is that the way it is felt is not in the normal manner. The highest percentage of injuries to new pumpers happen from two different things. The first is pumping at too high a vacuum level. The second is not allowing recovery and oxygenation time for the penile tissus being stretched. Follow the rules of pumping and make them a manual for survival before you do it for the first time!
What surprises me is that more people are not injred with this activity. This in and of itself proves how resilient the tissues of the penis are.
If you pump wrong here are the things you can suffer from it.
1. Permanent erectile dysfunction can happen as a result of lack of tissue oxygenation. This must be done and Thunder's place and many other sources can give you the particulars on this.
2. Over pumping with a vacuum level that is too high will cause water blisters. These are extremely painful and will take about two weeks to heal completely. Partially healed blisters form an escape corridor for lymphatic fluids and this can lead to infection. Create blisters and you're out of the tube for 14 days! Partial healing is not enough COMPLETE healing is a must.

Most extreme pumpers are long term experienced pumpers. If you were the owner of a million dollar Indy 500 race car would you allow your teenage son to drive it? If you say yes you would be risking the life of your son and the value of the car. Your penis is in some ways more valuable than that car is. Risking your penis without the time to gain knowledge and most emportant the experiencce of reading your own body is penile suicide.

An expert pumper is a fellow who has been at it 5 years or more, has had a great deal of time to learn not only about pumping but how to read his own body and very importantly the tissues of his own penis.
Even experts will not pump under certain circumstances. Never pump if you have taken any pain killers, OTC or prescription. Never pump if you have taken any kind of blood thinning agent.

i've only had sex 12 times and i'm 38. i'm on a 4 year dry spell, the longest being 8. i could care less about my penis.
Have a friend that pumps for up to 6 hours to achieve a 10 X 10 status. To me that's excessive. Tho I don't question the why? Not sure where he gets the time cause even if I do a 5th or 6th 20 minute session that's less than 3 hours including the breaks.
You're a true veteran in this arena.Its taken me 18 years to discover the forementioned.
