Food Names

I'm sitting here trying to work on something and this came to mind. Obviously my train of thought is a little off.

The are identical foods, sandwiches, dishes..... that are basically the same but people/regions/cultures call them different names. What are some of yours.

Fluffer Nutter - peanut butter and marshmellow whip sandwich

Toad in the hole - center cut out of the bread, butter both sides, egg in the middle and fry. I like mine over easy so the bread soaks up the yoke. :smile: And don't forget to butter and fry the piece of bread that was cut out.

Toad in the hole for me is sausages baked in a Yorkshire pudding.

I have to constantly remind myself when reading some American recipes that broiling means grilling.

Here the term "grilling" means either applying heat from the bottom.."putting steaks on the grill" or applying heat from the top "put the cheese sandwich under the grill".

Soda/Soda Pop/Pop/Coke, Pepsi (by brand)/Cola

My dear British friend John was horrified when I told him that I'd had biscuits and gravy for breakfast one morning. Biscuits in England are what we Americans call cookies... so yes, I can see how that would sound rather unsavory!
