I recently read in an article that it takes up to 5 minutes for a healthy young man to reach a hard and full erection. Is this true in your case? How long does it take for you to reach a full erection? I think teens were out of the question since that can happen in seconds.

I recall my tender teen years quite well. I could spring up an erection quite fast. Never did time them. I never had a wrist watch until I graduated from High School and then it was a gift from my Grandma.

I seem to recall between 5-15 seconds to become fully erect. I had the opportunity to time myself the other day and it took 18 seconds to a full throb.

Not so. I am fifty and it sometimes takes longer to get hard than when I was 20. But I do get very, very hard, regardless of it taking about thirty seconds or a few minutes. Two things make a difference: it takes longer at the end of the day when I am physically more weary, and it takes longer when I am doing something else like going down on my wife. It seems that concentrating on pleasuring her slows down my response somewhat.

Very true and of course there are variables and if you aren't concentrating on your own pleasure then it will happen differently then if you were getting direct stimulation, eg blow job or hand job which is the type of situations i meant

When I was a young man it never took me more than five or ten seconds to be rock hard. Now that I'm in my early sixties it can take as much as five minutes but I'm usually there in a minute or two. I really don't miss the instant erections of my youth, getting there can be half the fun!
