I don't really think it had anywhere near the effect he's making it out to have had on his career. If anything, the reaction of the time was either that he'd scored big by bedding Price, or that he'd been taken advantage of by an older woman. Both of which were sympathetic to him.

It was also 24 years ago. Where his career is today is down to his own ability (and that of his manager).
