Gay and masculine

I am this way, my partner is this way. I think it's quite common. They are just much harder to pick unless you really try. I have only ever dated men who are this way.

In a way, I have always felt we are the forgotten gays. Growing up, I would have loved more role models who I could relate to.

These days, it's getting more and more common to have gay men who can pass and still be open about their sexuality.

I agree. I went to a social event for a gay soccer club in my town expecting to meet other masculine gay guys last week. No need to say I was the only one who has ever passed as straight at the event. I always thought being masculine is highly praised in the gay world. I guess this shows how little I have in common with majority of gay guys. It is kind of annoying, I wish I knew more gay guys like myself. Nothing bad with not being masculine, just not my cup of tea. It’s kind of hard for me to connect with the “stereotypical” gay dude

Yes, that has been my experience too. Everything isn't black and white though. You will probably be able to find enough connection with some of those people to be friends. And then from these friends you might meet someone who you have more connection to.

As social norms change and the LGBTQ community is less stigmatized and being gay is accepted I think (what used to be called) "straight acting" gay men have less to fear. Years ago if a good looking, straight acting guy came out the answer was usually, "what a shame" (meaning that so many girls were going to miss out). Now it seems like the response is more, "who's the lucky guy?" Personally, I think seeing two masculine men together is SOOOO sexy. I could go on and on, but I won't.
