Well, I guess this is about some hypothetical actor and not some other guy who shall not be named:

Nobody's obligated to come out but if you're going to take a big gay role (and appear in a sequel) in 2024, bending over backwards to make sure that everybody thinks you're straight when you're not, including silencing other gay men, is gross. People clown Richard Madden but he's not out here monitoring gay spaces so that we don't know he's one of us. This is a small section of a forum on a niche porn site, after all. It ain't TMZ.

I know people discussing someone's family in detail isn't appropriate but this is the Streisand effect. You try to hide and it attracts more interest, not less.

It's one thing to be closeted because you're afraid. That's understandable and completely valid, honestly. It's another to stay closeted because you'll do anything to get ahead including selling out your own people.

When a celeb himself or ‘his team’ goes through such ridiculous lengths to control a narrative or to stifle speech it’s a total turnoff for me. In the US there are laws for defamation and libel which the courts will entertain if you can prove you’ve been harmed by someone else’s “speech.”

Jonathan Bailey is an out and proud man who's turned into internet's crush now and he's baggin so many high profile projects..... whereas despite trying his best to be closeted this guy has not done anything after rwarb and doesn't even have anything else lined up..... so what's the point of staying in closet if it's not helping ur career at all.... atleast be authentic and jobless....

I was thinking about Jonathan Bailey, too. He's proving that if you're hot, genuinely talented, and charismatic, you can be a bankable star. The worry was always that you couldn't be a leading man because women won't be into a gay actor but straight women don't care that he's gay. They're even the primary consumers of gay romance these days, too. Without them RWRB and Heartstopper couldn't have put up those numbers because there aren't enough gay guys alone to make a project a mainstream smash hit. If it's romantic and the guys are hot, the girlies are showing up and showing out.

JB is rewriting the rule book in real time and, hopefully, it will embolden some of the these closeted guys to be more open. I'm rooting for his continued success both for him because he seems like a gem and for the community, too.

He's not wrong about Bailey though. Bailey is a little different because most people probably do. not know that he is gay. I didn't see anything wrong with what he said. I personally am a big Baily fan but I don't think he is changing the game YET! If he can get to be an everyday household name then that's a BIG step( at least here in America-Hollywood, he may be more famous in the UK). He's still relatively only famous in niche genres. Yes Bridgerton is popular but its popular for a specific audience not general audiences. Same with Fellow travelers thats a gay audience. Im not saying he cant get there but I wouldnt say he is there just yet.

Oh gosh, THANK YOU! Right?!! Jonathan Bailey was launched as that heartthrob and is still in his prime and newfound popularity.. It's not like years have passed, his star has faded and suddenly, he outed himself on TV. The gurls and the manly-obsessed gays love him. A Netflix hit like Bridgerton and a movie like Jurassic Park would make him the A-List Hollywood heartthrob loved by many.

I'm curious, flamboyant or just British, idk, I don't follow him but I have noticed some British/european actors tend to be more exuberant than more reserved American actors in like interviews for instance.
