It wouldn't surprise me if he was gay but he's not publicly out because his team think he's going to have a bigger career than he will. He-Man will tank because he looks completely miscast in the role. That and it's a dated IP, Jared Leto is box office poison and there's too many bigger movies coming out next summer. It's basically dead on arrival, barring a miracle.

He's already acknowledged he's straight publicly. Which is what would get backlash for taking gay roles? So why did he do that instead of being vague?

if there's evidence like there is with tzp, i'm not super aware of it. i don't really follow either. i know of tzp and his husband because it gets plastered all over social media and eventually leaks into other places. with nic, there might be equally damning evidence, i just don't follow him closely enough to know it. i'm sure people in his thread are able to provide some intel. although there's a chance they're the annoying "he said he's straight so he's straight" type, like the shawn mendes people

wanda sykes is a lesbian, her character is straight. there's a gay character(and afaik the actor is gay as well), the oldest son, but he's not a main character
Jermelle Simon (Benny Jr) - he gets main character proximity as the seasons progress. Whereupon his irl fiancé, Obio Jones is billed as his boyfriend. Also, iirc isn't The Upshaws more (main cast) ensemble, than it is Wanda's star spotlight vehicle. I cud be wrong, as I had paused watching per lifeing, with hopes to finish as time allows.
S/N: Dwayne Perkins (also queer irl) played his bf in earlier seasons.
benny jr went from recurring to regular. he had almost no screen time when the show started, but then started getting as much screen time as his siblings. the main cast of the upshaws are regina, lucretia and benny sr, that's who the story revolves around

Oh, I haven’t seen him acknowledge anything. I think he’s a straight man who’s playing into gay stereotypes and remaining ambiguous about his sexuality so he can keep playing gay roles and have gay fans. I think he knows what he looks like, what he gives off and what people like about him, and if he started to openly date women and take on womanizer persona it would affect his career.
