Got A New Roommate (straight Male) But I (gay) Like Sleeping/being Naked. How To Make It Not Weird?

I'm 24, male, and gay. I am moving into an apartment with one of my best friends 22/m/straight. I usually sleep naked and go from the bathroom or kitchen naked but that's because I live alone currently. I want to continue to do this but I don't know if it would be rude or that he would think I am doing it sexually. I would usually only do it when he is asleep anyways because we have opposite schedules during the day (I work at night, he works early morning-afternoon). A few times I hung out in just boxers around him cause me and my friends shared a hotel room, and he said he didn't care, but obviously being naked is different. He knows I'm gay and there's never been any issues. Btw I am not attracted to my friend at all because he is very straight and also not really my type.

So do you think it would be weird if he like got up in the middle of the night and caught me in the hallway naked or something? I don't want to piss him off or make things too weird.

If he's that close of a friend, just tell him you used to sleep naked and ask him if it would bother him if you still did. Maybe he sleeps naked, too. Lots of str8 guys do.

agree^^^^ since it is his place that you are moving into, I would ask, casually. If he doesn't care, then just act natural. As long as you are not parading through the house naked in broad daylight. Keep a pair of basketball shorts handy to put on for times when being naked would be unusual.

I had many roommates when i was younger. My general approach was to approach it with a locker-room mindset, i.e. that there's a baseline level of incidental nudity that acceptable when it's just guys living together that doesn't require any discussion. Specifically, I'd keep my towel in the bathroom at all times, which meant walking naked to/from the bathroom before and after showering. I felt like this was below the threshold of "nudist" behavior, such as hanging out in the living room or walking to the kitchen (unless the bedroom-bathroom path crossed the kitchen). Some roommates reciprocated and others didn't. If they didn't, I just left it at that. If they did, then I took it a step further and said they could use the bathroom while I was showering. I had one roommate with a similar level of immodesty, so our daily routine often involved shaving, brushing teeth, pissing, etc., while the other one of us was in the shower which had a glass door, so we'd make normal eye contact as we chatted.

If it were just me and a male roommate, I'd sleep with at least underwear on, out of respect for him. If he's straight, definitely. Because he likely doesn't want to see another man nude if he is. Nor would I want to make him uncomfortable or make things awkward.

I’ve had my share of roommates. We’ve all seen one another naked but didn’t flaunt it. I’d say you can sleep naked, walk to bathroom naked etc. If you’re on the couch watching tv, throw on some shorts.

You are moving to his place and do you plan to impose something? Talk about it but I think you won’t die by using a loose boxer around is also cleaner for the sheets.
You won’t be impressing anyone but that doesn’t mean you can go around naked.
Imagine if he is looking a movie with a girlfriend and you pop up “don’t worry that’s just my nudist gay friend, we live together”

It’s been years since the original poster .. but I’d say this in general. No matter what especially with us straight guys we really don’t care .. there’s this sort of locker mentality for the most part that we have with nudity. Do what you need to do and do what feels natural to you

Me and my roommates all do not care and walk around nude all the time. No one cares

Haven't checked this site in awhile. I did end up being naked upstairs quite often and roomie saw but didn't say anything. It was only very limited in passing etc. and his room was almost always closed or cracked door.

I actually got another roommate about a year ago. Old roommate left and this new roommate moved in. This guy also straight, but we are very close friends like brothers basically. So I am even more comfortable and he is around me etc.

I sleep naked every night, walk to the bathroom and sometimes kitchen nude (at night/morning). Sometime he says "Hey put some underwear on!" but sometimes not. He freeballs and stuff but never is full nude around me, but he does piss with the bathroom wide open which I have started doing too.

The other night I was home alone taking a shower with the door wide open and he got home an hour earlier than usual. Well I was jerking and the shower was loud so I was surprised to see him walk in the bathroom where he can see me completely nude with a raging boner. He just laughs and says "Is someone taking a shower in here?" Then he proceeds to tell me about his work day having a full conversation while I'm still hard.
