Hello, I've been lurking this site for a while now and I finally decided to make a profile. Since being on this site and reading the comments I've often been wondering after the topic of guys "experimenting" homosexually without actually being gay. Women get away with it in this society and from I could see are thought of as the only gender who does experiment. But since browsing this site and seeing some comments I've wondered if that's actually true...and so on to my question.

I read in Kinsey that about 40% of guys had a same-sex experience before while for women it was only 20%. I think now the numbers for women are higher while for men iit's around the same since society hasn't tolerated it any better. We never hear about it though. But on here, gay guys are always sayig how many "straight' guys they've been with so I'm wondering which gender really experimenents more. So do you guys think guys experiment with homosexuality as much as girls or even more than girls, but NEVER ever tell anyone about it?

I'm curious as to what gay or bi guys think about this topic.

How would you compare the two genders then? And why do you think there is such a social stigma against guys experimenting if most guys have?

I think the straight men that experimented with other men did so when they were on the younger side..I think the main reason was on size comparing..I dont think most men exactly enjoy it unless they actually enjoyed it a bit..Today's society has less of a tolerance with man on man VS woman VS woman because it's not the manly thing if your inner circle of friend were to know, so i think it's more of the "down Low" thing...With woman it is socially acceptable to kiss on the lips, dance together, etc...etc...That's all i got for now..That is my opinion..

Very true and great point.

I, among many others, took sexual orientation research way past Kinsey. I think that sexual attraction is much more fluid and flexible.
I "experimented" with sex with women from 14 years old to the time when I came out as predominantly gay at 23. Since then I've had sex with three women when it seemed appropriate within the relationship to do so - with each woman clearly knowing that I identify as gay.
I see it as entirely possible for most of us to enjoy sex with men and women even though we may have a strong preference for one sex. As for physical displays of affection, I expect all of my friends to enjoy hugging and kissing irrespective of sexual attraction.

Would you say that your friends enjoying hugging and kissing is more due to your location? I see your from Thailand but here in America guys can't do any of that without being considered gay. I agree with everything else you said though.

I think that some guys have done it but don't want to talk about it due to all of the stigma around messing with another guy. The guys that are open with their sexuality and don't care what others think will open up about it. I do feel that society has opened up it's mind a bit to the subject, granted it may be a very little bit, lol. If people would stop worrying so much about what others will think of them and just do what makes them feel good, then all the negativity will hopefully die out.

I think it is more fun to have sex, even with a "straight" guy, than analyze data, but than to each his own.

I don't know about everyone else, but between my circle of friends none of us have felt the need to 'experiment' with each other. And I can honestly say I've never had those feelings towards any of them. Some of you might think i'm just repressed, but I feel no attraction to my own gender. Who knows maybe i'm an enigma, or an alien sent here who doesn't share the same kind of feelings as everyone else lol.

Keep in mind the membership on this site isn't exactly a representative sample. I think the majority of men out there are straight and aren't interested in other men.

I tend to think same-sex activity is more taboo with men because just about every guy learns that the absolute worst thing in the world is to be called the f-word.

I tend to think women experiment less than guys do.

Women, in my estimation, might snuggle, kiss, and comment on each other's bodies more than guys do...but I don't consider that sexual experimentation. Its just an expression of intimate feelings or relationships. Sisterhood.

On the other hand, guys get rabidly horny to the point that they will fuck pillows, fleshlights, or even soft fruit just to get off. If another guy is nearby and is also horny...you have a situation that can lead to full-on anal or oral sex. Its just sex, not gay. Gay, to me, implies a romantic relationship, not convenience.

Most modern societies hold a stigma against male to male intimacy, both sexual and emotional. So of course guys aren't going to talk about it. They can here, under the anonymity of the internet, so they do. I think all this open chatter and dialog about sexuality might help us get a better understanding of sexuality...and reduce the stigmatization.

Back when I moderated a teen health forum, 16-year-old me was shocked to find out like 3/4 of the guys on there admitted to it (or wanting it.) To this day I still can't help but suspect this was a non-random sample issue.
