Ladies, If you were going to buy a one piece swim suit what size would by and why? Meaning are you buying that size because of torso length or boob size etc…. I am trying to get size ideas for a new project.

FYI I do make crochet swimsuits and crop/halter/festival tops. I have pics to share if skeptical. I would like honest feedback. I am trying to get this off the ground and make a serious go of it.

I'm a large woman, tall, very curvy, plus sized etc especially up top and my behind. Whatever I'm buying has to fit my boobs and butt without things being squished out everywhere and looking ridiculous, thankfully these days with online retailers like SimplyBe etc catering for big and tall women things are a little easier than it used to be.
I'm also a qualified dressmaker and seamstress so I often alter dresses and things to fit my shape right.

All sizes are different. I would have to look at the measurements. However I would have to accommodate my boobs & torso. I don't think I own any one piece swimsuits but I love crochet clothing items. I actually have a crochet bikini on in my profile pic.

Thank you for the input and that bikini does look good on you. I have made some like that already and other kinds of tops. I have more pics to share if you want just message me. Maybe you see something you like.

if I'm buying handmade then it has to be tailored to fit.

Handmade but "off the peg, one size almost fits most" just doesn't appeal.

If I'm buying something mass produced then I have a huge range to choose from, and competitor brands to try on in case of poor fit. So yeah, it would start with me and my measurements (and no, I'm not sharing them here)

Part of handmade is special orders. I have asked more than a few women with how should we say… either exceptional or not the standard measurements. I have made a custom order already. So adjusting sizes to fit a specific measurement is not hard to do when creating a suit. (And no I wasn’t going to ask your measurements) that’s a bit unprofessional and rude. If I was making you one then I would have those and they wouldn’t be given in open chat.

As always thank you for your input. It has given me something to think about.

They're beautifully made but I prefer more muted colors and either one color or at max 2

They're beautiful, but are they practical?
Are they only for the beach or do they stand up to the ocean?

I'd buy a vest from you, not sure about swimwear, in case it gets heavy.

I did my research and if it’s made of cotton yarn then I would say no don’t get wet because it will soak it up and sag and possibly stretch out. That’s why I use acrylic yarn or yarn specifically for that. As for salt water just rinse it out throughly once you’re done at the beach and or wash it. And let dry as you would any other crochet item.

fit is going to be really important then. Without the stretch of something with some elastic you're going to want to be reassured that everything will stay in place and stay decent. In a one piece I'm looking for length. In a bikini you need that sizing to be spot on, size, cup and brief.

I do worry a bit about those thin string straps either undoing or knotting so badly I spend hours picking at them.

The strings do pretty great honestly and I have the basic sizes or small med large and xl down. Or I can do specifics if I have measurements. They keep things in pretty well but as with any suit if you go to a smaller cup to show more cleavage that might let them bounce more. I do the tie strings on the bottoms because yarn isn’t that elastic.
