I think he said in some interview that he's uncomfortable with being seen as a sex symbol and now I only see his fans being afraid of "sexualizing" him, acting like he's a 16 yo boy and not a grown ass man who just made an album full of sexual references. In all of his music videos from this era, besides adore you, he tried to look sexy, the promo for golden is him flaunting his body, he couldn't even go on SNL without showing his nipples while wearing a harness, make it make sense
