Hey guys.
Just curious if any of you use or have any luck using hookup apps (grindr, scruff, etc) for opportunities to show off or play with other guys in person?

I get the sense that there are a lot of bots or catfishers out there...and wondered if folks had any advice?

Actually that how I meet all the guys I have been with. I am totally into twinks (I'm a mature male) so with them I really haven't too much trouble. Damn buddy, that's hot. I love twinky guys too...or younger guys in particular. But since I'm unable to host, it almost never happens. Or....they want to do more than I'm willing to.

Yeah. Same experience here too. I just wondered if there were better apps out there to try that have caught on? I've tried jackd too awhile back but it was really a wasteland of thugs and fake profiles...at least that's what it seemed to me.

Don't use them at all, they're a complete waste of time. I've found meeting guys the old fashioned way through socialising is way better, especially since I only fuck guys I'd be friends with.

Been on Grindr for a couple of months, had a lot of good conversations but there are few on there that I would feel comfortable meeting, mostly gay guys looking for quick hook ups, whereas I'm more interested in finding a regular bi wank and suck buddy. I have used Scruff, Growl have had some great hookups. I used ti use Adam4Adam for hookups and it wAs I’m for hookup. I miss being able to hookup During this crisis time, but went the ok is clear I will be visiting them Often to make up for lost play time.

It's location-specific, too. In West Michigan, the hookup apps are basically a lot of trans folks plus married closeted guys who either scrape images or fail to show. But Chicago? Or Dallas? Or Las Vegas? Much different experience!

Doublelist (not technically an app but its the new craigslist for hookups) has gotten pretty big

Can always check out Tagged MeetMe Plenty of Fish Badoo etc too. Most guys on there are looking to hookup more than date

I've had plenty of luck! I've tried most..Adam4Adam, BBRT, Gindr, etc.. I don't hookup everytime I log in, actually once, maybe twice a year. I like to chat, and feel a person out before I meet them, to give me some insight, then maybe I'll give him my number, so we can text, and talk to each other, and maybe plan to meet! I met some really sweet guys, and had a lot of fun. Been seeing one I met online, for just over a month, 2-3 times a week.

No. I tried out the apps because a gay friend used them to meet men to date, and there were way too many fake profiles, flakes, liars, people into unsafe sex, etc.

I used to like going to bars and dance clubs.

In a semi related deal, I was just discussing this topic with 2 other guys.





Keep in mind, I’m a complete closet case (GenXer)/ They, millennials.





That fact is important cuz they give me shit about not being a tech savvy/





Somehow they brought up catfishing & Apps( I barely know what an APP does),





& how easy it can, or can’t be to get laid, some quick head.





While trying to keep my private life private, I got to educate them on what was referred to as Military / Marine chasers.





I was sure they had no clue. Because it predated smartphones.


Sure enough, they didn’t.





Basically, it’s your local queers who conveniently who reside just outside military bases to keep the Joes happy, if you know what I mean?





Tying it into this topic, is also my encouragement to kinda feel things out 1st.





Modern Technology & convenience, isn’t always convenient if you have to pay for it later.
