My erection is also like that. High angle from the base, curve up and back (not that pronounced though), with the head resting just below my navel (I know, I'm "only" 8 inches). When I'm standing, it points almost straight up.
In my case, it's been referred to as a 'cobra' (hence my nickname), but I haven't heard the banana comparison (it might be because at 8x5.75, the length/width ratio does not visually correspond to that of a standard banana, it would be a somewhat fat banana).
