They added a fully-CGI'd main character in season 2. Unless you want She-Hulk level effects, they're gonna have to take their time.

There was also the 2023 actors strike. The OPLA team had written the scripts for season 2 but didn't start production until it was over. Now season 3 is already in production before season 2 has been released.
I grew up on Charmed and didn't care, She-Hulk level effects would be a fucking godsend. Y'all are spoiled :joy:

Remember when the cgi wasn't good but at least we got 26 episodes a year, a better paced plotline and tons of character building? Those were the days.

Yeah, but no production value and only the kind of actors who were willing to work 14-16 hour days for 9-10 months of the year. Plus, let's face it, how many of those 26 episodes were actually great or important - 4 or 5 maybe?

Well it was Charmed so it was all kind of bad (glorious bad like camp bad, they knew their show wasn't winning any emmys). I can't speak for where you got the long hours from, considering how much the actresses were able to contribute as producers, I doubt they were ever working 14-16 hours. Hell two of the three leads weren't available for filming part of the series finale cause one of them had a shlockly horror film and the other was visiting family.

Besides it's not about it being "important". You need filler episodes or else it's just too rushed and you don't get as many good moments to build notable characters. In a weird way it's also easier to remember basic plot details if the pace isn't "plot point, plot point, plot point, three year hiatus".

Don't know about "Charmed" but back in the day, 10-12 hour days for about nine months of the year was the standard for actors, with many pushing beyond that when it came to the more challenging episodes. Actors often timed doing a film gig for a few weeks of their hiatus.

Few major actors would commit to such a schedule these days - especially as the 'reach 100 episodes and land that syndication money' deals aren't there any more and that's where the big money was. And even that was for shows shot on soundstages with the odd bit of location work.

Inaki's spending six months of the year in South Africa shooting eight episodes because that's how long it takes to do a show of this scale with giant practical sets, a LOT of outdoor filming and feature film-level VFX.

Far more distressing is the decided lack of skin-showing outfits from him this season - have yet to see one as revealing as that blue jacket only number he wore in the fifth and sixth episodes.

This I agree with. Like at least film a few more episodes. 13-16 would be the sweet spot. 8-10 episodes feels so unfulfilling and incomplete especially after waiting a few years.

Stranger Things season 5 could probably last 13 episodes each given how long the average runtimes have gotten.

Yeah my point was that I'd be ok with shittier effects if we got more character development.
