I find it really odd that he’s posting literally exactly what he said he’d post and people have suddenly turned on him.

I think that at the moment a lot of people are annoyed by the fact that he isn’t posting at all. I completely agree though that complaints that he isn’t posting NSFW content are strange, given that he was always very, very clear that he wouldn’t.
There were always going to be detractors unsatisfied with his NSFW approach. That’s on them, not him.
