I wouldn't really describe that as desperate. If you generate revenue using OF then it stands to reason that you'd find ways to advertise to your target audience (in this case on Grindr and at Pride). I have my own criticisms about his content since his father is no longer around (though I've never paid him) but I wouldn't knock him for finding ways to increase his subscriber base.
