Jared Padalecki

Not sensing any “gay vibes” is a rather corny way of dismissing things. I know stereotypes exist for a reason. But we should be smart by now to know how prominent queer dimensions are in the entertainment industry and smart enough to know that you can never truly tell the dimensions of anyone’s sexuality, their experiences, their preferences, their motivations, their insecurities or where someone is in the gender, sexual, affection, romantic, emotion, commitment spectrum. While many actors lie like hell. So, you not getting a “gay vibe” doesn’t mean it’s not true. However, this does come off like nonsense fanfic to me. And if they did have an “affair” that shit is well passed.
Oh, I get my vibe is just my vibe. No objective evidence for or against an affair. If it exists, I doubt we will ever see it. I just rely on my gut like a lot of folks on here. ::Shrugs::

Many years ago someone started a thread here on lpsg asking which celebrities we thought were gay. The community named actors like Matt Bomer, Matt Dallas, Zachary Quinto, Wentworth Miller, Colton Haynes, Thomas Dekker, and pretty much every other actor who has come out in the past 10 years or so. As I recall, the community didn't miss or overlook anyone. When I think about all the celebrities who have come out since then, I don't think any of them were a surprise to me, because they had all been on the list compiled by folks here at lpsg. Furthermore, I think almost everyone who was on the list eventually came out. The only exceptions I can think of are John Travolta, George Clooney, and Brad Pitt, all of whom are a bit older than the group that came out and arguably had more to lose.

My point is that folks here at lpsg have generally been very accurate at identifying gay celebrities. Oh, there's plenty of wishful thinking going on too, but in that particular thread it seemed like people set aside the rumors and their own personal fantasies and based their answers on actual knowledge. (At the time there were active lpsg members who either worked in the entertainment industry or had "connections", so they seemed to know what they were talking about. I don't know if that's still the case.)

For whatever it's worth, as I recall Jared and Jensen were not on the list. That doesn't mean that they are not gay or bi, just that there wasn't enough evidence at the time to think they might be. I don't know if that has changed since then. I think it may just be wishful thinking, but I'm not going to dismiss anyone's reasons for wondering if they might be.

^ All those guys you listed were rumored to be queer all over the internet before they “came out”, not just on this forum. So, you can hardly give this place some sort of special credit. Most of those guys were pretty easy to suss out. They either perfectly aligned with stereotypes. Or they never really made a ton of effort to stay closeted or stopped making they effort at some point. They went to gay clubs, were seen indulging PDA with their boyfriends, hooked up with a lot of random dudes, etc. When industry dudes (or dudes in general) really, truly want to stay closeted and plan on staying closeted long-term, they tend to go about things in a very different way than those guys did. While just because you haven’t officially announced it publicly doesn’t really mean you’re actively closeted or that you’re truly trying to hide it.

There are still plenty of closeted industry dudes or “private” guys. But the “gay witch hunt” shit is tired and played out. I’ve just accepted that everyone has their own sexualities, insecurities, struggles, journeys and motivations, and that probably at least one-third of the entertainment industry is in the gender, sexual, affection, romantic, emotional investment, commitment spectrum. Trying to constantly unearth old rumors (fact or fiction) is just corny.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but Hollywood is an expensive AF real estate market. Two single bros saving money, it makes sense, especially before the show contracts got really juicy. The gay rumors come off as desperate fanfic to me. I don't pay much attention to Ackles, but Jared, zero vibes he is gay. Zero vibes he is hiding anything. Seems largely authentic when interviewed. IMHO
just to clear it up, this wasn't in hollywood. the show was filming in vancouver, which is cheaper than hollywood, which is why the cw films there. yes they likely moved in together because they had just moved to another country knowing no one, and it was just convenient, but that didn't stop the rumor mill

True.

My lust is centered more around Sam than Jared. I DO get asshole vibes from Jared sometimes.
that's because jared is an asshole.
but him(and his fans) like to use his mental health as an excuse.
yeah, last time i checked, just because you got depression it doesn't mean you can get away with punching people in bars-
and iirc he was on twitter making fun of philip seymour hoffman when he died, because the man died of overdose, which i think was related to mental health issues

Is it the alcohol? How does he treat his fans, co-workers, production staff? If he is well regarded by those groups, I would be willing to excuse his fights as too much T + booze.

People that show contempt for their fans and are rude and demanding to service workers, they get no empathy from me. To me, that is an asshole.

i mean, the supernatural set was always known to be awful to work at, from people who worked behind the camera(for like an episode or 2, not regular) sometimes going on places like reddit(places like r/askreddit and or r/television) and talk about how awful it was because the main actors would purposefully mess up scenes just to mess with the crew.
and yeah, he better be nice to fans, they're his bread and butter. they literally pay to meet him, since it's always at convention meet and greets. but he's also known for making fun of fans, especially shippers, but jensen does it too.
he's an ass regardless if he's nice to fans imo. constantly getting into drunken fights and being an ass on twitter(not just the psh situation, he'd always go on rants talking shit about people. or like the time where he was throwing a fit because jensen didn't tell him about the supernatural prequel that was still underworks, and likely wasn't allowed to talk about it), that to me is enough to call someone an asshole

I didn't wanna type all that, but I was actually thinking the same thing. The Philip thing really irritated the fuck outta me, and it was rather hypocritical of him to make judgments like he did.
And I've dealt with anxiety and depression pretty much my entire life, so no I don't excuse anyone using it as reasoning behind shitty behavior.

What are some of the sources or further details on his behind-the-scenes antics?

it's usually just one time hire type people, like they worked on set for an episode because they were short term contract. when people on reddit make those claims on those subs, people tend to go through their post history to see if they've talked about their job before, if they've had consistent stories or if they post shit that doesn't connect. they tend to get called out right away when they're lying. which is why they're assumed to be telling the truth.
as far as sources, it's a site just like this one, with people using aliases, they're telling private stories that could affect their careers, so they're not gonna be revealing their names and such-
regarding their antics, it's stuff like purposefully messing up scenes and pulling pranks/jokes on the crew. who have to work for way more hours than the cast and now have more work to do because filming is being delayed for laughs

Same.

I never have. Then again I haven't paid much attention tobwhat happens outside of Supernatural. I only know about the drunken fight and the Twitter thing about the Supernatural prequel.
