Looks like he lost some weight as the series progressed, though (I'm still on Season 5 and he is hella muscular in it, more so than Jensen!).

He's had that runners' physique in the last few years when they did all those marathons. His workouts seem to fall under that until now. He looks good ripped and lean but I still do miss his bulk from 8-10 years ago.
