on the Supernatural part that was actually more because of Jared then him. Back when the series started they were going show the same amount of skin as was done in Smallville, but Jared struggled with mental illness do to body image. So they made a pack for the series, that they wouldn't that much skin. Only enough to make the network and fans happy nothing more. Later on they got more creative output so less shirtless scenes
