Jensen Ackles

Chances of a second season, I'd say pretty high as long as it does even moderate numbers, which I'm sure it will do. The chances of there being nudity or of this show being groundbreaking or adult in any way though are fairly low. The creator of the show is the king of one-note procedurals. Basically the kind of shit that you put on in the background when you don't really want to use any brain cells. The kind of shit that grandma and grandpa think is good television.

It's paint-by-the-numbers kind of crap. As Derek himself admits right there, he's not interested in any sort of depth for the characters.
sounds like the generic braindead crap that is always on CBS

I’m mostly just kinda miffed that it’s once again Jensen playing a cool manly guy who wears cool manly jackets and has a gun and drives around in a cool car, but like whatever it takes to get more gifs of him in my camera roll I guess lmao

That's basically all the roles he does now. Even soldier boy was that just in a more explicit form. At this point in his career I don't expect that to change really

All of the above, really. It's a CBS procedural, pretty much, with all the edges nicely sanded off so nobody gets hurt or offended, but more importantly, so that it is dumb enough and aesthetically bland enough to please the highest percentage of the population while causing the least amount of friction.

As a fan of Jensen's who is fully versed on how incredibly talented he is as an actor, is this what I want from him? Bland CBS procedural playing yet another version of the same character? (Seriously, he's already on another dumb CBS procedural, Tracker, as the same exact character-type) No! of course not! I want to see everything I know he can do!

But will we ever get that? No, we won't. Realistically, as a 47-year-old man in his industry, that looks as good as he does, Hollywood has not just already decided what kind of career they'll let him have, they've also decided what they aren't willing to let him do. So Jensen has to, either play by their rules to continue to do the job he loves to do, or he can fade into obscurity. But what's painfully obvious is that the industry is not going to let him reinvent himself at this stage of the game. And that's a shame. For him as an actor, and for us as an audience.

That being said, I arrive at the same conclusion: I'd still rather this soulless crap than nothing at all. I'd rather have him on my screens as something, keeping the pretty GIFs coming, than wondering what he's up to because I haven't seen him in ages. So I will most definitely be watching this shit soup.

At the same time, I will be keeping my fingers crossed for what the last season of The Boys will bring (which he is filming now) and his Soldier Boy prequel series, Vought Rising, (which he'll be filming starting August) will bring. Sexier GIFs, at least, I hope.

I really thought him joining The Boys would open more doors for him, especially after seeing him in Supernatural for so long. I was excited to see him in something more adult and risqué. And thought that was what he needed to shed Dean Winchester.

But after throwing a few F bombs, and showing his ass for a short moment. He immediately goes back to basic cable television with Big Sky playing his typical role, then goes back to playing Dean AGAIN not even 5 years later.

It doesn’t seem like he really wants to put himself out there (or show much skin for that matter) he’s definitely used his kids as an excuse to not bare it all which I find annoying, but whatever that’s his prerogative. I think he’s gotten used to working the TV-14 format for so long.

I won’t be watching Countdown, but be keeping an eye on this thread just to see what pops up. I am curious to see how far he’ll go with his Soldier Boy spinoff though. It’s no secret he completely vanilla’d the character the first time he played the part so I’m not really holding my breath for that either. Sorry rant over

I don't think its 'Hollywood' telling him what he can be so much as it is him actively deciding that this his his lane that he wishes to occupy. He could audition for something completely out of left field but all he wants to do is the same character archetype as his supernatural one for the past 20 years or so.

If that's what he wants more power to him.

The really weird thing about his type-cast is that it also oddly enough always involves him constantly around a hot man (padalecki, hartley, starr) that plays a family relative so even the fantasy is out the window
Especially with Starr since the comic book has Homelander & Soldier boy fucking and they instead made them Father/Son :skull::skull::skull:

But wasn't that the "wrong" Soldier Boy? I think I read that it was just a wannabe Soldier Boy, as the real one was probably already dead? Wasn't that an impostor or something?
But I may be remembering it wrong. 🤔

I mean in the comics.
*Gosh, what a mimosa.* 😉 😜

In the comics. There are 3 Solider Boys. Kind of like Black Noir in the show, they claim it's the same person. But in reality, they all die somehow and just replace them. All of them end up weaker than the previous.

The current one in the comics wants to be a member of the Seven. Even having sex with Homelander as a test to prove he's worthy.

Pretty sure I just replied to a comment talking about Jensen Ackles queerness and rumors i heard.
You immediately jumped in and bring his relationship with Jared. That’s how actual shippers act "Look at me, my ship is way better than yours."

I don’t ship real people for funsies and shit, Jensen had a boner because of a MAN who happened to be Misha and he almost kissed a MAN who also happened to be Misha TWICE for no real reason
No, Jensen wasn't boner for Misha. Just watch the video. When the video broke the bubble on X, people started asking "cool, where's the boner?" because you can literally see nothing in his pants.
