when they were both still in the closet.
doug would spend weeks at the place joey was living at. which was a 2 bedroom he shared with sawyer hartman. they pretended doug was sleeping on the couch, but it was a huge giveaway that he wasn't, and was actually sharing joey's bed, because joey daily vlogged, and would end every vlog in bed before going to sleep, and during the time doug was there, the vlogs would either end abruptly or he'd film them in the bathroom with the door closed.
there's probably still videos on their channels from their collabs. didn't last long, likely due to both being closeted and living on almost opposite sides of the country. doug was shortly after never seen with joey, and was constantly hanging out and collabing with rafael gomes, who he was probably dating(rafael is still a closet case). but unlike with rafael, joey and doug's break up was most likely friendly as they'd still interact online in rare occasions
