Jonathan Bailey

you mean a greater cultural impact that The Wizard of Oz? One of the most famous movies in the world? Wicked is a musical prequel to The Wizard of Oz... I think you are greatly underestimating the interest in this movie.
And I think you're overestimating it. It won't flop, at least I hope it won't, but it's a niche movie... it's rare that musicals become huge hits.

All recent musical movies was promoting itselves pretending it was not a musical

Wonka, Mean Girls.. I love musicals but it's hard for it to became huge hits

Is it going to be a mega hit, probably not as musical films tend not to be, especially when the amount of CGI is taken into consideration. But I think there’s a bunch of reasons people would see it...

It’s been on Broadway over 20 years, in London nearly as long and been all round the world. That’s a lot of people who’d want to see it out of nostalgia, or show their kids, or whatever, plus the current fans of the show.

Ariana Grande must have a decent sized fanbase to sell out arenas around the world.

Wizard of Oz genuinely is one of the cornerstones of American filmmaking. It gets referenced EVERYWHERE. It gets reinterpreted every few years, and they can’t all be flops or they wouldn’t keep doing them.

Then there’s the gays who’d be there even if it didn’t feature Jonny Bailey in tight trousers.

It's not beating IO2 or Deadpool but I think it will be profitable and a semi "hit" still though. Agreed that these comparisons made by that person are indeed nonsensical
You dont know about that. Wicked could beat both of these movies. Yes. Wicked and Barbie can be compared. As both movies as the same demographic. Even though one movie is fantasy and the other is comedy. The nonsense is on your side. As usual. You failed. Againnnn. You start to get used to it. You are becoming predictable. Well. Its bigboaster after all. Expect the expected.

I work in the film industry. If you think "Wicked" is going to be in the league of "Barbie" box-office-wise, you're dreaming - especially when a lot of people don't find out it's only 'Part One' until they see the film. It should do well, especially in the US, but it's not going be a billion dollar earner.

In terms of Jonathan, when can we get a higher resolution version of this photo please?

I dont get why many thinks that Wicked wont do well at the box office. Theres no way Wicked will be a flop. I remember when they started filming Barbie and we saw the first pictures of Margot as Barbie and Ryan as Ken, people were saying, '' Barbie will be a flop next year. Even when the trailer came out, many said that Barbie would flop. Many people said that Twisters would also be a flop. Both of these movies ended up big hits. It will be the same for Wicked. Gay men will go see Wicked the same way they did for Barbie. Gay men are more comfortable with camp and cheesy movies in general. Straight men will be more into Gladiator 2. Which might underperform at the box office. Many people are already talking against the lead actor. Gladiator 2 will most likely not be as successful as the first. But i dont think it will be a flop. But it might be an average hit. But Wicked will be a big hit. The movie will be released around Chrismast time. Which is ideal for this type of movie. Wicked might even end up the biggest hit of 2024. It might beat Inside Out 2 and Deadpool and Wolverine. We will see.
Gays will watch both. There's no way we're gonna skip movies with Jonny Bailey (and probably Ariana?) and there's no way we're skipping movies wih sweaty muscly Pedro Pascal and Paul Mescal (ESPECIALLY Paul). Wih any flop? Hopefully not. But both for sure will harm each other's box office results. I hope they will at least be able to break even. I'll be sad to see yet another movie flop when it doesn't deserve to, and the whole post-covid flopping phenomenon is bad for the movies' future

Exactly this. I feel both releasing the same day will be more of anti Barbenheimer effect.

HW needs to stop with the prosthetics. And now it is public knowledge they talk about it as if it is needed. I would rather they film sex scenes without need to show us fake penises.

Did we actually ever see him wearing the prosthetic in the show?
