I've already moved on from the James Bond thing, at this point people might be overhyping this new Bond era. But I would love to see Jonny in exactly the type of vehicle you just mentioned, Miami Vice-like action movies to really show off his leading man-action star potential. I would prefer it to not be some derivative remake/sequel though but at this point, whichever will get more eyeballs is fine.

yes, even he could join Tom Cruise for the sequel of days of thunder or if they do a sequel of Brad Pitt F1, Jonny is an a-lister now and same i need to watch him on action movies besides romcom and another project with Matt Bomer

Doesn't Jurassic World count as action? Even the Wicked movies had action scenes.

I do agree with the overall sentiment though.

For sure re:JWR. It was that movie that confirmed to me he has action leading man potential, but it was still mostly an ensemble-ish role. I would like to see him unambiguously lead or co-lead a major action franchise eventually.

Yeah. That's fair. But to be quite frank. Both Wicked movies had a demographic breakdown of about 72% Female / 28% Male in terms of audience. A huge chunk of the moviegoing audience (Men) still don't know Jonny very well and a "true" action movie would help build his fanbase to be more multi quadrant I guess?

JWR was a good start though, the gender split was 54% Male / 46% Female

Jonathan Bailey doesnt have the action star vibe. Action stars are actors who only or mostly makes action movies. Jonathan could only do it temporarily to some degree. Like a couple a James Bond movies. But he is not fully believable as a action star. He is too refined and sophisticated. Same thing with Matt Bomer. I dont see him as an action star. What we need is a strong masculine muscular gay actor who would make gay action movies. He would always play gay characters. When HOLLYWOOD will finally look for a gay Arnold Schwarzenegger. A hot muscular gay actor who could be an A-list actor. Jonathan Bailey could only do James Bond movies. But not real action movies. You need the right look for it. Which is the muscular fitness type. Do you really see Jonathan Bailey in a reboot of Lethal Weapon or a reboot of Die Hard? The gay actor needs the right body and right vibe.

While I definitely think it's a good thing not to be overly sycophantic with celebrities, I genuinely wonder if you even like Jonathan Bailey because it kind of seems like you don't.

Of course i like Jonathan Bailey. I have no idea why you even doubt it. Saying that an actor doesnt fit a certain type of movie doesnt means hating him. I think that a muscle alpha bro type of gay actor have more chances to make it big than an actor who have a normal body. I dont think Jonathan would be into making action movies anyway. Just look at his upcoming movies.

One of the two is more fit for action movies and the other is more fit for oscar worthy movies.

A man built like that spends so much time on fitness he likely doesn't have much time for acting. Usually guys built like that are supporting roles/extras at best.

We have a few straight actors with large muscular builds from Alan Ritchson to Joe Manganiello, Dwayne Johnson and Chris Hemsworth in the fourth "Thor". Almost all of them are either slimming down or hitting major physical issues that come from being that large for a sustained period.
