kill this thread

Five years ago, my mother died of colon cancer after struggling for over a year. My family and I were told right before I started my college career that she would be dead by Christmas, about 6 months after my 18th birthday. My younger brother had just started high school.

About 2 months after she died, my father started dating this women, whom we found out about through the grapevine the following year. They became engaged around my mother's first anniversary.

To make a long story short, none of my siblings or I are in contact with him any longer. I personally have not seen or spoken to him since the summer of 2009. As a narcissist, it was to benefit our mental health to cut him out of our lives just as he wanted us to. As a result, I have gradually learned what it really means to be independent in this world.

Nice attempt to kill this - post too short though...

one question...why did you want your dad out of your life? because she started dating 2 months after your mom died...or another reason?

There are a lot of reasons...too many to list here really. The most significant though is probably to maintain my personal mental health. Do you know what it's like to have a narcissistic parent? Narcissism is in the DSM for a reason. My siblings and all of our family friends (whom we are still friendly with) agree. My father has become a poisonous person.

Bullshit you say..well .....There's just gonna be a big, dead lake ...with a few hockey player who thought it was skating season!...lol

Here lie the bones of 'Screwy Dick',
Born to the world with a spiral prick.
And all his life he searched in vain,
For a woman who wouldn't give him pain.
He met a man called 'Alan Funt',
Who knew a woman with a spiral cunt.
He jumped with joy...
...Then dropped dead,
Cos the God damn thing had a left-hand thread!
