this latest season got the highest ratings the show ever had consistently (still never cracked the nielsen top 10 though)... and i'll bet a lot of those people just tuned in to see kit naked and didn't even pay attention to the storylines. lol. that's what i did. i couldn't tell you jack shit about what actually happened in the plotlines, just that there was naked kit harington.
i think industry's salaciousness is a double-edged sword in this respect. the sexuality attracts an audience, but it seems over the top and like a shock value gimmick to get people talking as well.
and also, it can get people to watch JUST for the sex and not for the actual writing.
that said, i'm sure the show is very well-written and acted. it's just that, it's so sexual and risque that that can, ironically, hurt it in a self-inflicted fashion.
and again, the reason why shows like game of thrones and euphoria get away with their sexuality is that they get higher ratings and have a higher number of big name stars and older, powerhouse actors.
game of thrones had peter dinklage, lena headey, and charles dance, prestige actors, and also, older.
euphoria has sydney sweeney, zendaya, coleman dolmingo, and jacob elordi, movie stars.
industry has lesser known actors, most of whom are younger, and lower ratings. kit harington is a relatively big name, but just ONE big name. he alone isn't enough.... unless the show is ratings juggernaut perhaps, which it's not.
