I think there is a part of us that likes being watched and another that doesn't.
Each person has a somewhat unique balance between the two and this balance is very dependant on where we are, who is watching, and our mood at the time.
I wonder though why we feel it is necessary to joke about the way people express themselves especially since not everyone has the same facility with language.
