Mark E Miller

This video really feels like it should have been Mark's finale. Beyond the fact that he didn't talk about any exciting new projects or ideas,

good point. in a "life update" to not mention anything in the works is surprising. he was/is a photographer, he has/had a podcast, he called this youtube video "a film" (eyeroll) but the entire video mostly felt devoid of any creative spark inside of him

Does his family have money? I always got the impression they were like supporting him to some degree outside of his YouTube income, and that's how he's been able to sustain his "career" as a YouTuber for so long.

it is relative, but i get the scense that yes for sure they are doing just fine. my source? is the fact that they have a designated lake house. and not just some shack on water but a full size family home with a nice dock on a big lake. it's not grandiose but still most midwestern middle income families dont have a 2nd property let alone a vacation home, so it stands out.

His parents' primary residence is also upscale, based on Mark's YouTube videos...big, very nice house, also with a small lake in the back, looks like it's around 4-5000sf

Yeah, his parents are clearly loaded. Mark obviously leans on them heavily, which wasn't so bad in his 20s, but in his 30s is really kinda sad. He would have made great Youtube money back in the day (and remember the merch they were always peddling?)

He really doesn't seem to have any ambition at all and is just coasting on life - I guess he can do that knowing he has their money to fall on whenever he needs it. Kind of a red flag though.

In his latest video he mentions both parents are retired. Idk their ages but they look too young to be retirees. So it must be early retirement, which, aside from serious illnesses thay force such thing, only wealthy people can retire early

i think you guys are mistaking him with the popular gays like tyler oakley, troye sivan, connor franta, joey graceffa.
those were the ones getting the big numbers. mark and ethan were part of the gay couple vloggers club, and they never reached that level of fame and popularity. they never made the numbers guys like tyler or troye did. the gay couple vloggers mainly stayed within their bubble, while the popular gay youtubers were making content with the popular straight youtubers, increasing their numbers even more.
youtube is also not as kind to gay youtubers. they will be more likely demonetized for doing the same or even a tamer video that a straight youtuber would do. demonetization doesn't always mean 0 money, but it limits the amount of money you'll be making from that video. lgbt channels are also more likely to be hidden from anyone who has their settings to enable restricted mode, which didn't used to be an easy thing to find to turn off(it used to be hidden at the very bottom of the page, and couldn't be reached on any page that was infinitely scrolling, so you had to be outside your subscription page to see it at the bottom. now it's just on your main pfp settings). mark and ethan once even made a series of tweets when they found out mark's channel was hidden from searches and most of their videos, which were completely harmless vlogs, were completely hidden when restricted mode is enabled. imagine how many viewers and subscribers they lost from people who never saw their content because their accounts were restricted.
also, mark might seem like he lives humbly, but he doesn't. moving ain't cheap. and it's not like he's moving within the same city or state. he's moving halfway across the country, to california, which is an expensive state. buying groceries, which are going to be more expensive just for his diet. he has a dog, which don't forget required major leg surgery couple years ago. he's into photography, meaning he likely spends a good amount of money on things like cameras and lenses. and don't forget he just bought an $11k car that, based on what he said on his video, is not considered a good car. chances are it's a gas guzzler, which is gonna be an added expense.
if he was fine money wise, he wouldn't have a patreon with a $30 subscription. he's not struggling, but he sure as hell ain't swimming in it

Good point, because people with money never try to get more while they can.

lemme rephrase it then. if he was fine money wise and living humbly, he wouldn't need a patreon with a $30 subscription. he'd just stick to the money he makes off youtube and live off that

Yeah, that's like celebrities who make enough money to live off of but still do commercials to earn more.

Does anyone know what Mark's parents do/did for a living?

Not that it matters, just curious...they seem like loving, supporting and doting parents...lucky Mark (a lot of LGBT kids don't have that).
