Mark E Miller

I dont find either of their channels particularly interesting since they've broken up. Their relationship was the reason to watch. These 20 minute videos of them pontificating about relationships or life updates or forest bathing (FFS) dont interest me at all. And seeing how drastically their views have dropped, I'm not alone.

i mean, i think them being a hot gay couple was what made people start watching them, and keep watching them. now that they've broken up, people have lost interest

god i wish that was my body image problem growing up.
literally "i'm skinny but all the other guys around me are muscular"...
then brings in donny for him to talk about growing up being very tall and skinny...
jp's segment is the one that made most sense in the theme, since he was a fat kid, who lost weight and then gained it really quick and has to work hard to keep a slimmer body because he gains weight super quick.
mark and donny are just naturally skinny and work out to have muscle
I had a lot of issues with that. Could not for the love of me gain a pound and not being considered frail and a whimp. Was def. bullied about it.

but they weren't bullied about it tho. or at least if they were they avoided the subject completely. donny was made fun of for being very tall, called things like giraffe. but that has nothing to do with being skinny. and mark was just a skinny guy that wanted to look muscular like all the other dudes he was around.
their whole thing about being skinny seemed to be that they saw all the guys around them being more toned and they wanted to look like them

So I have a lot to say

I believe Mark tries. Bless him. He is actually talented behind the scenes wise but not a great story teller. I actually liked that biking documentAmy he did with that non binary person. The whole doing a podcast is a thing today. But one has to have something to say actually. Mark isn’t suited for these types of talks. He spent the better part of his YouTube career and 20s filming his relationship. He spent most of his time with his former bf. This stunted his creative development I believe in terms of relating to ppl and speaking on issues. He never intermingled with other ppl. He has no range. Even now he isolates himself. His only friend is this straight and married childhood friend. Sad really. He doesn’t have a diverse group of friends so his worldview and perspective is quite limited.

He built a brand on sexiness and hot gay couple. This attracts a certain kind of community. These ppl leave once you stop posting sexy photos And there is no hot gay couple they can vicariously live through.

It makes me think about that other couple yummertime. It’s crazy how their whole brand is their relationship. What happens if they break up. A huge gamble.

You can still have issues and insecurities even if you are not bullied about them pal.

yes, but their whole issue is that they were skinny and saw lots of buff guys around them, so they started working out. when you put that alongside jp's part of the video where he talks about his weight struggles, it really makes mark's and donny's "i was skinny when i wanted to be buff" seem like a non issue

I don't agree. Seems like a classic case of feeling inadequate. We live in a society where men are supposed to be "big" & strong. Not skinny little wimps. It's a non issue to you. But it wasn't to them? Some guys are made to feel "less than" for being skinny and not necessarily just through bullying. I myself am an example of that.

You clearly don’t understand how someone too skinny can feel and see themselves.
Weight issues work both ways pal.

Definitely not a non issue. Bring tall and skinny was a misery growing up when everyone else around was naturally pretty buff (I was always sporty). Even if you're not really bullied for it, you grow up with the constant surety of not feeling "enough". I'm in my 30s with many years of gym behind me and finally in decent shape- and it still feels like I have to catch up.
100% get what they're talking about.

I agree to a large degree with what you are saying. I'm sure many of us can remember when the Mark and Ethan couple started and watching those videos weekly about their ongoing relationship. But now, you can see that both of them are lost---and very boring, without each other.

And I have always maintained that it's seemed like the two of them struggled to have a clean break, that they went back-and-forth a bit, because Mark in particular seems to struggle to get out of his bubble. You can really see that now too, like you're saying. He doesn't seem to make new friends, he goes back to old friends. And that's okay, but you're right that that's a limit of experience for him. You need experiences to be create.

However, I also think, maybe, just maybe, he has the capacity to surprise us. Even this body image video is causing conversation in this forum. There's something there... I'd just like to see him harness it more.

To be honest, Mark was always a little bland. Seemed like a super nice guy, but not necessarily exciting to watch. If he hadn’t been attractive, I doubt that he would have been as YouTube successful as he was. If I’m being honest, back when I was following them, it was more because they were a cute couple of gay guys, and not because of their exciting lifestyle or personality.

Connor Franta is as bland and less conventionally attractive and still gets millions of views...

firstly, you can't compare one to the other, because mark started as an openly gay youtuber, who always had less of a following. only the super loud obnoxious gay youtubers like tyler oakley and kingsley ever made it big while being openly gay from the start. while connor gained his following during his closeted years, constantly making videos that pandered to teen girls, same as all his o2l buddies.
secondly, no he's not getting millions of views. check his channel, he doesn't even get 100k views in most of his videos anymore. in the past year, there's been 4 videos that passed 100k. that's really bad viewership ratio for someone with nearly 5 million subscribers. the last time he made it in the millions in views was 3 years ago when he made the video about walking in on his robber. most of his videos from the past 5 years haven't reached 500k views.
mark has under 700k subs, and his videos get about as much views as connor's, all around and bellow 100k views

Does Mark have a day job or other sources of income besides YouTube? Because as many have noticed, the interest and viewership of his channel is drying up since the breakup, so hopefully he has something else to fall back on besides Youtube.
I think his family seems pretty well off so honestly even if his YouTube totally fails tomorrow. He'll be fine

Why do people care about his family's "well off status" again? It doesn't relate to him as a person nor as a creator.
I was just answering a question dude... Relax. Just my observation based on his own videos. Also your remark doesn't make much sense anyway. How does someone's background not relate to them as a person? What? Mark has featured his family on his channel before. Lol
