I've finally broken down and am going to go for my first deep tissue massage....should I stick with stripping down to my undies or losing it all and having it in the nude?? I know it really a personal preference, I'm just curious as to what those who have massages think? Does it make difference?

as a CMT... I prefer people to be nude. You spend less time worrying about draping or exposing the person and more time doing actual work. We, as therapists, see naked people all the time and you're just another body. HOWEVER, if you cannot relax being nude on the table, then don't be nude. Your muscles will tense and you won't get much out of the massage and it makes the therapist uncomfortable, because they are TRYING to make you relax.
**also, ask about the person's training before you let them do a deep tissue massage on you. A lot of therapists just think it's hard pressure from the start and that is WRONG. (I have a degree in neuromuscular therapy and clinical rehab) If they don't know what they are doing, you could be for a lot of pain or injury. If you are in a legit spa setting...then you shouldn't worry.

I always prefer to go nude and undraped. I just feel much freer doing it that way and will go out of my way to ask the CMT if that's okay - it usually is a yes, and not necessarily sexual (at least for them).

I agree. I usually go naked - they drape you with a sheet anyway, and I guarantee you don't have anything they haven't seen before
Went for the massage today. I was a little skeptical at first and it took me a while to actually relax. Once I did though, it felt great. I did decide to completely drop trou and go naked. Although I was covered by a top sheet I got hard in the beginning. I'm sure this is normal, I don't want to think I 'm the only one this has happened to!

The first question is whether or not you enjoyed it or not. It obviously didn't phase the masseur, so don't worry about apologizing. If it didn't overly bother you either call him and make another appointment. If he's suddenly always busy or doesn't contact you back you'll have your answer. If he sees you again just go with the flow (no pun intended) and enjoy the experience.
