The way he was supposedly so paranoid and ashamed makes it seem like it wasn’t a one or two time basic little hook up. While tons and tons of cis, white “straight presenting” male actors have talked about “experimenting” for decades, and it hasn’t hurt most of their careers. As long as you don’t come off too into your sex, too “queer”, too “gay”, it doesn’t seem to do much damage to that demo.
I don’t know about promoting “experimenting” being normalized. There’s sometimes sociological, financial, ego pressures and incentives to indulge “experimentation”. It should be more like people should do what they want to do so long as they’re not dipping it with underage folks or manipulating or harming anyone or leeching off of folks or baiting folks.
I also don’t like how we keep making same-sex stuff almost entirely about sexual behaviors and attractions. There’s still too much disregarding the romantic, affection, emotional investment, relationship contentment/comfort/commitment aspects of orientation. While “attractions” isn’t all that sexuality is about. There’s also desires, enjoyment, fetishes, who you like pleasing and getting affirmations from, the extent of your sex drive, potential fluidity or contradictions. There’s still too much simplicity and basic-ness when these public figures try to talk about this stuff.
I do however appreciate him talking about shame and attempting to eradicate some toxic masculinity and same-sex shame. And yes, he’s only looking yummier with the thickness.
