I never thought he was cringe,I just thought he was so cute,hot,and sexy at the same time,and that he's sweet,funny,talented,I do think it's extremely unfair he gets a lot of hate over playing will and that people make fun of him all the time,like anything he says or does is immediately joked about,and I just don't see the humor in it,they even act surprised that he can sing,act,dance,and is good looking,when he's always been those things.

Unfortunately once that original wave of hate/meme took off he was never gonna shake it. But he's really not cringy at all (to me, at least). He just seems like a guy whose passionate about and truly enjoys what he does.
Exactly this. He's talented and handsome. I think people just struggle to separate him from the character.
He's also really just a theater kid at heart. It's a confident self people hate because everyone has to be self deprecating these days. God forbid you be sincere.
