It feels like if we see one pic where a guy looks like he’s 8.5 and another where he looks like 7.75, we conclude he’s really 7.75. But isn’t the longest confirmed size legitimately what we should accept as a guy’s size? Couldn’t the 7.75 simply be the guy not fully hard or even post-cumming?

I don't see that conclusion.

I see people creating a range and then closing or sometimes opening the range based on new pics/measurements/comparisons/etc.

Can you give a better example of where we or a lot of us estimated someone at 8.5 inches based on a comparison/measurement picture and then brought them to 7.75 inches based on another comparison/measurement? (Doesn't have to be literally 8.5 inches to 7.75 inches)

If you're talking about pictures without a measurement or comparison and then the guy being reduced in size once we have a measurement/comparison thats a totally different matter.
