Disagree. I go on holiday/citytrip with one of my best friends once or twice every year. Simply because it's in my opinion easier and more fun than going with a large group which is difficult to plan (find a week where 8 people are available is almost impossible with everyone's schedules) and when on holiday it's more difficult to get things done because you're either waiting on eachother or having different interests on what to do.
So Idk why you're so shortsighted to understand why friends to on trips together. Maybe you should try it once and I can guarantee that it's great.

Why not? And what was romantic about their trip? It's just a beautiful, tranquil place with nice views and nature. Id love to go there to be honest, seems like a good place to de-stress and relax.
