Michael Cimino (actor)

The only queer person in it is Keiynan and he's a guest star. I love all the actors and they are wonderful, gay-friendly young men, but they're not gay.

Mason Gooding who plays Andrew, the jerky guy (and is incidentally Cuba Gooding Jr.'s son) is openly not-straight I believe

I'm not sure exactly how I feel about it myself. But you can't tell me there aren't enough gay actors. The original source material has Simon played by straight actor Nick Robinson. They're all as authentic and open as they can be, and I respect that. It's just that there are definitely gay actors who could tell the story as well.

in the interview posted he says he started questioning his sexuality when Glee (specifically about the couple Blaine/Kurt) came up. around the 6:30 mark.

he also chooses to not use any pronouns when talking about his last relationship and uses the word partner instead. which I guess you can take that however you want.

I think that's a bit of reaching. It doesn't particularly matter. I'm still gonna watch the show because they're all good actors. And eye candy.

Keiynan was NOT out yet when he was cast in Love, Simon so it’s not fair to assume about the new cast. Same with Joshua Rush in Andi Mack.

Yeah, that's how I feel too. An actor does not have to be gay to play a gay character, however straight men keep getting these parts and being lauded as "brave" and "risk-takers". There are a lot more great gay characters on TV and film than 10-20 years ago , but rarely a gay lead and that's usually played by a straight actor.

That being said, Michael seem like a great ally and is nice guy overall. This is also one of the few latin-centric shows, so baby steps.

I want to believe that pulling shorts down pic is him. The legs match and so do the ab muscles.
