I wasn’t going to chime in on the race debate as I’m indifferent to the overall argument in general. But I just wanted to say that we have two parallel notions when it comes to racial identity. One is racial ancestry and the other is your racial phenotype.
Actor Wentworth Miller has a racial phenotype of whiteness yet his racial ancestry is black. Others have mentioned actress Rashida Jones as another example.

My point? Your racial identity often boils down to how society sees you. Your phenotype will often cancel out your ancestry (and some times vice Versa) because of antiquated views on race. Anyhoo, just my two cents.
