So, I am 20 yrs old and I frequently have to pee. I never come close to peeing on myself, or in my sleep, but I do have to go often. I have also within the last few months lost about 15-20lbs and I haven't been working out or eating better (if anything working out less and eating worse). I was just wondering if i should go to a doctor. And if so just for a general check up, or maybe a urologist? If anyone has any advice I will gladly take it.

I'm a registered Nurse and you should absolutely make an appointment with your doctor. A 15-20 pound weight loss and frequent urination are symptoms that should be evaluated by a professional. A General Practitioner will be fine, if you need to see a specialist he'll let you know.

I would definitely see a doctor. Your symptoms sound like diabetes or possible prostrate problem.

Sounds like my first diabetic symptoms. Your high blood sugar makes you urinate more to expel sugars through your urine, thus creating great thirst and weight loss. If you can't get a diabetic friend with a glucometer to check your blood sugar, you might buy some urine test strips for sugar. Do it now, or high sugars can eventually send you into a coma. See a doctor either way.

To reinforce what others have said I'd certainly advise going to see a doctor as soon as possible - and take a fresh sample of urine with you. There's a possibility that your symptoms, particularly if accompanied by thirst, could indicate diabetes. Alternatively if you've been having pain passing water they could indicate a UTI (water infection) but I wouldn't expect one of those to run on for a long period of time, even without treatment. Good luck. Let us know how you get on.
